I also loved Dr. Brescia & Dr. Miglaccio (located on 12th/13th street and Washington). I delivered at Palisades Medical Center which was a wonderful experience.

I love Dr. Brescia in Hoboken and gave birth to my twins at Hoboken University Medical Center. I was very happy with the care I received and also happy with the hospital.

Lonnie Morris is a midwife who works with doctors in Hoboken (Drs. Brescia and Migliacio). Her office is in Fort Lee, but she is apparently delivering with these Drs. so she is probably delivering at Hoboken University Medical Center and/or Palisades. I switch my regular gyn. care to her but am not expecting so I have not figured out all of the delivery stuff with her office.

Dr. Polack in Union City is a great, gentle, breast-feeding friendly pediatrician: progressivepediatrics.com

Hoboken Doulas (hobokendoulas.com) are a great support when you bring the baby home! And one of them might be attending births again. Beth was at my birth and it made all the difference!! She had a baby herself a year ago and her maternity leave may be finished.

There is also a Yahoo Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HobokenMoms/. Great way to get connected.

Good Luck!

I live nearby in Jersey City, and so far have been going to an ob-gyn in Manhattan (close to work). I don't know about midwives, but alot of ppl (including my pediatrician) recommend Dr. Brescia's office in Hoboken, so I will probably switch there after having my baby and settling in at home as a SAHM.

Hudson County Midwifery Care, a midwifery arm of Dr. Brescia and Dr. Migliaccio's practice, is up and running , and delivering babies out of Palisades Medical Center. We support the natural birth model, and use alternative birthing coping skills in addition to using appropriate medical intervention if necessary. Based on a holistic, woman and family centered model of care, we provide safe, empowering, and transformative birth experiences in the hospital setting. Hydrotherapy, including shower and tubs for labor, are encouraged for low risk births. Doulas are welcome! Contact D. Tabas, CNM, M.S., @ ____@____.com for more information, or call the office at ###-###-####.  In addition, you may access contact information on the newjerseymidwife.org website.

I review Palisades Medical Center's Maternity Unit as the worst in the Hudson-Bergen region. I had a horrible experience during the birth of my first baby a month ago. When you take their tour, you will hear many false claims from Nikki Mederos about the quality of service and care they provide. I fell for that trap and regret it everyday. After promising a "luxurious" private suite, they put me in a shared room right after delivery. The room and bathroom were dirty and horrible and I caught a secondary infection because of that. They also did not allow my husband to stay with me because there was another woman sharing the room. When I called the RN on duty, Sharon Fisher, she was extremely rude and did not even answer the call button. Even after several complaints about their service, there has been no response and they charged me a fortune for these abysmal facilities. Pathetic.
