I wrote a request last week about a pregnancy test and everyone was so very helpful. So I have one more question for you guys. I am preganat and only about 4 1/2 weeks, I love to run and the gym, I generally run between two and 3 miles everyday (5 days a week) I want to know if anyone knows if I can still keep running? My Doc. appointment isn't until the end of March so it makes me a little nervous to continue not knowing if it's safe for the baby or not, but I don't want to just stop if it's o.k to run. Thank you so much for all of your help!

What can I do next?

You can certainly continue to run during your pregnancy. My daughter ran Boston Marathon when she was 6 weeks pregnant and had found a sports Gyn MD on line who advised her to make sure her body temperature didn't go above a certain level (sorry I can't remember what that was). She and her husband ran with a thermometer and ducked in to the port-a-loo's along the way to keep check. The result was a beautiful 7 year old grandson who can boast that he has run Boston Marathon!! My daughter ran until her 8th month during that and her second pregnancy with only positive effects. Of course it is important to 'listen' to your own body and to have your own doctor's OK.
Good Luck and keep on running!

the doctors have told me that a healthy woman can still run or jog unless it is uncomfortable of painful.at least in the beginning. you can probably call the doc and ask.

Even though your dr. visit isn't til the end of March I would call and talke to a nurse. They can give you advice. Thats what I do a lot. It saves time and money if you dont have to go in to the dr. for everything.

I can't remember what I was told about running during pregnancy, but when I go looking for info, I love to search parents magazine. Here's a link to their page on pregnancy fitness. You'll have to cut and paste the address. (and there are a lot of pop-ups trying to get you to sign up for the mag, but you can just close the windows and skip them.) Good luck!
