I know this is a very opinionated issue but we have decided against vaccinating our daughter for the time being. Unfortunately our pediatrician has gotten aggressive and intense about this issue and I'm feeling a liitle bullied into accepting the vaccinations. What I'm wondering is if there are any moms out there who have made the same decision and has a supportive doctor they could reccommend...thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Hello K.,
How old is your daughter? I am a nurse and the best advise I can think of to give you is to contact the American Academy of Pediatrics and ask for their opinions on immunizations. Also, you might want to contact the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), CDC.gov. They have wonderful resources that you can query.

If your physician is becomming aggressive with you, then you need to move on. That is inappropriate professional behavior - he is there to assist you with your health care, not dictate it. My question would be, if he is aggressive and intense with a parent, how will he approach an infant or child?

Hi K.,
I've run into the same situation....I will say I am staying with the same doctor, so I can't offer any assistance. Just encouragement that you are not alone out there. For now I'm standing my ground and will not budge on this. I hope to locate a new doctor as well, but for now due to insurance and some very demanding personal issues it would be too much to change now. Good luck.

Dr. Levy and Dr. Moses are very supportive doctors and will go either way. They do not give the hepatitis B vaccine in the hospital after birth. They are located in dearborn, mi. Their number is ###-###-####. They are very much pro whatever the mother wants. I really respect them for that. Take care! Remember you are your child's best advocate!

K.,

I think Liberty Pediatrics would be supportive of your decision - I am not positive because at the moment we do accept vaccinations, but when we interviewed them we were really impressed at there openess and acceptance to alternative ways of thinking.

We do not vaccinate our son and we see Dr. Gitlin at Child Health Associates in Plymouth. I don't know if I would say she is "supportive", but I don't ever feel bullied or pressured. She still gives him very good care. I do have to sign a waiver each time I go and they do still "counsel" me on the "importance" of vaccinations...I think they really have to...but after they talk and I say no that is the end of it.

You can find out more about Dr. Gitlin and the practice at www.ihacares.com

I can't offer a pediatrician. But I can tell you that you cannot be bullied into this.
If you live around Ann Arbor, there is Bio Energy Medical center. Maybe they could advise you or refer you.
Alternative doctors are hard to find, I know.
But stick to your guns! I salute you!

I take my seven month old to Pediatric Care Corner in West Bloomfield. We are not vaccinating our daughter until she is a year, the parents make the ultimate decision when it comes to vaccines at this office. When I was still pregnant we went in to have a consult with one of the physicans out of the office. The doctor we had the consult with was very willing to answer any and all questions, even those about herself. I have listed the information about the office below for you. Hope you find a great peditrician for you daughter as well.

Pediatirc Care Corner, P.C.
2300 Haggerty Rd, Ste. 2110
West Bloomfield, MI 48323
###-###-#### Phone
###-###-#### Fax

The office is located on Haggerty just south of Pontiaic Trial. The building where they are located is on the East side of Haggerty just before the first light. There are five doctors in the practice my daughter has seen four out of the five and they are all great compassionate doctors. Email if you have anymore questions ____@____.com.

My children go to IHA "Pediatric Associates" in Canton, MI. They are great about vaccinations. We have been strongly encouraged by everyone to get vaccinations but they always stress that it IS our choice.
