Hi Moms... I could use some opinions and I thought this was the perfect place to ask :) I am currently looking into getting into a home based/ trunk show type of business. I thought, as a stay at home mom, that it would be a good way to bring in a few extra bucks. I was hoping to get some opinions on the different ones out there. I know lots of you ladies have been to different shows at friends houses and probably have some that they really loved or really didn't like at all. So far I have looked into Tupperware and Southern Living. I know there are more out there but I'm having a hard time finding them or remembering the names of them, therefore it is kind of hard to look them up ;) Anyway, so are there some that you would reccomend checking out? Anyone have an opinion on Tupperware or Southern Living? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your opinions and ideas... very much appreicated!! Well, I have decided to go ahead and do one of these types of businesses. I have narrowed it down to my favorite four. I am in the middle of meeting with various consultants to see which one will fit with me and my family best. I'm quite excited about it and I am looking forward to getting started. Thanks!! :)

Hi S.,
Do you love candles? I am an independent distributor for Mia Bella Candles (Scent-Sations Inc). Mia Bella is a home-based business that has been around since 2002. While candles are the main focus of Mia Bella, we also have a mineral make-up line and bath & body products. It's a pretty simple business and there are several ways to earn an income - from the traditional home parties to fundraisers to team building. If you would like some more info & scent samples, let me know & I can send you an information packet.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Stacy.
I don't like home parties either. It's just not for me. I think you eventually run out of people to have parties. Also, many of them, once you stop having parties, you stop making money.
I have looked at several home businesses and tried a couple. Look into several before you decide. Don't register for anything the first night you look at it. Take some time to think about it.
I found an internet marketing company that is partnered Microsoft. Microsoft is planning on capturing 75% of all the volume that goes through the internet. The best way to describe it is that it's like owning a piece of amazon.com except I make all the commissions rather than the CEO of amazon. It's amazing. If someone goes on my site and just does a search I get paid. This was great for me because I didn't want to do home parties. I did Mary Kay and found it tough.
Hope that helps.
Good luck.

Be sure to consider the time away from home in the evenings that a home-based business requires. I sold Mary Kay while I was a graduate student, but found it was difficult to be out in the evenings when I needed to be studying, and it really ate into my time with my husband. I didn't do it for very long because I just couldn't put the time in that it required. It also requires a fairly aggressive personality. .. if you are going to really be very successful you have to be willing to talk about it with everyone-- the grocery checker, the receptionist at the gym, etc. There's only so much you can do through friends and neighbors. Also, you might want to choose a product that people need even in a down economy. Southern Living has lovely products, but they are high-end decor items that people might not choose to spend the money on right now. Also, Tupperware lasts forever so people don't need to rebuy often. Perhaps Mary Kay or Avon would be more practical? Maybe even Amway? Even Cookie Lee might be more practical since there is quite a range of prices. Good luck with your decision. . . just weigh all the pros and cons first. I know a lot of people get started in these things and it doesn't work out.

All I wanted was to Stay at home and raise my Own Children...I was
totally shocked at all the scams on the Internet that were targeting
people like me.

I spent months looking, and did pay some "fees" to find out

about legitimate work from home. None of them were able to offer
anything more than a few surveys for pay, crafts to assemble, or
mystery shopping (all of which were nothing more than some spare
change...not an income).

I am very excited to now Own my own Home Business.

I am working at my own pace and I have met and Teamed up with some
Awesome Mothers and others...that have the same Goals as I DO!

I would love to share this opportunity with you. Just visit my

Hello S.,
Yes, extra income is always nice for a stay at home mom! The great thing about them is: you can keep your family FIRST, and work when you want. But you do have to work!
I invite you to look at Creative Memories. Do you take a lot of photos of your children? I see that they are young and if you could get the photos organized at their early ages and into digital or traditional scrapbook albums....what a gift to them! I'm in my 7th year and it is so great..I have a passion for it as not only do I help others but I keep up with my own family photos! You can take a look at the website and if you want more info. you can contact me that way. Good luck in your decision! www.mycmsite.com/marycluley

I joined Melaleuca to bring in some extra money. There are no sales or parties, but it is a great social networking company. Check out www.melaleuca.com. I'm sure there are hundreds of Melaleuca mamas in your area that you could talk to. Or send me a private message and I can give you more info.
