My hair is in desperate need of a trim, and will be needing highlights touched up very soon. I have dark blonde/light brown, baby-fine, shoulder-length hair with long layers that has to be cut with precision in order to look decent. I have been doing foil highlights for about 8 years (since I saw the first glimmers of silver peeking through!), but I am open to discussing other ways of covering gray. My hair is very fragile and has to be treated delicately or it will literally fall out in clumps. I was paying $45 for a cut/blow style and $85 for foil highlights in San Antonio (where I'm from); I'd like to pay the same or less if possible. If any of you moms have a similar type of hair, and a stylist that you swear by, please let me know. Thanks!!!

We moved from NY and I was very concerned abut who would be doing my hair...I have thick hair and had gone to the same stylist for years. I go to downtown Houston. The haircut that I get is fabulous. I use Eduardo at Marbella ###-###-####). They are color specialist and though a bit pricey...though not my new york standards ($65 for a haircut). I live @ Weston Lakes in Fulshear but I have to say it is worth the drive. You would not be disappointed.
I recommend my stylist to everyone. I don't have hair similiar to yours, however, I've seen her work on all types of hair. Her name is Hollie and she works at Simply Irresistible Hair Salon at Mason and Cimmaron Pkwy. ###-###-####. I'm 42 and have lots of gray, too. I get all over color, plus two color highlights. Her prices are close to or less than what you're used to paying.
I go to Auera Aveda in La Centerra shopping center at Cinco Ranch. The stylist I use to cut my hair is AMPAY(but you say it like UMPAY).
She charges $45 for a haircut.
I haven't had my hair colored there,though.
