Hello ladies-
I currently have a daughter who just turned 12 months old. My husband and I work full time and we have a nanny that cares for her during the day. I am looking for opportunities to get her out of the house in the evening and/or weekend to explore new things and interact with other children.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

I have been taking my 15 month old daughter to We Joy Sing classes since she was 6 weeks old. They are awesome and they are offered all over the city during the day and on weekends. We Joy Sing as been around for many many years and stated here in Columbus. It is a huge program with a lot following.

You might also want to contact the Dublin Rec Center and see if they have anything available.

Good Luck.

Hi C.,
We have a business in downtown Powell, Studio J. There are all types of arts related classes. There are music classes for that age on Thursdays at 10:30, and some toddler play classes on Fridays at 10:30. Here is the website<

When I was a nanny in the dublin area, we did classes at the rec center...although your daughter may be a bit young, they also have a nice indoor pool and it holds music and puppet shows at the Abbey Theater. The library usually incorporates a Family Storytime in the evening...at least hilliard does. The mall, if you can tolerate the chaos for a short bit, is ok for a little "people watching", as many 12 mo. olds like to do. I know its hard in the winter...we are suffering major cabin fever at my house as well!

Local libraries usually have toddler story hours. The downtown Columbus library is a fun place with plenty of toddler story hours. This is something your nanny and child could do together weekly. Plus, there is a fun place for children to play in the downtown library, check out books, etc. I hope this helps!

The Northwest Library on Hard Rd has Pajama Storytime on Wed @7pm. I started takening my son there when he was a little over a year. They also do Family Storytime ____@____.com has a wonderful childrens playarea. With a water table for the little ones. It might be worth getting a membership but two and under are free.

I live in Dublin also. Another place to go is Tuttle Mall - they have a great kids area. That works in the winter also.

In the summer, the fountains of Ballantrae are nice (off Avery just south of 161).
