Sounds like he has a bad cold with an ear infection. I know the cough sounds terrible. If the doc said his lungs were fine, they are. Give him
24 hours on the antibiotics and he should be much better. The eye
discharge can go with the cold or it can be something different. Just
see how things go. Did they tell you what to give him for fever. I am not
sure what or how much of Tylenol or Motrin you give to a 3mo old. Check
with doctors office. Better days are around the corner.

Stick to the exact medication the hospital gave you. You can also put some baby vapor in the bath water that will help clear up his breathing for a bit. Also, just use a warm washcloth on his eyes to wipe away the yucky stuff. Just be sure to use a clean spot on the washcloth for each eye. Stick with it -- this is just something that needs time to pass! =)

I've never understood the difference between a chest cough and the kind that's up in the throat. To my untrained ears they sound the same. I also have a hard time getting wheezing. One time I'll take a child in and be sure the are wheezing, they aren't. The next time I think it's ears or something and I'm told they are wheezing. I'm certain that this is when a stethoscope and trained ears are needed and we just have to trust them.

I'm sorry he's so sick. It's hard to watch.

careful with the tylenol. I had to go pick some up the other day and the age on infant tylenol is actually 2 years old. The weight however is 24lbs. Generally it is best to go by weight for medications, but I doubt a 3 month old weighs anything near 24 lbs.

The steam will help if he has a stuffy nose and a cough isn't actually telling of the lungs being clear or not. They are listening for fluid which would mean pneumonia, he can have a nasty cough and his lungs still be clear.

You may want to try a humidifier, or vaporizer in the room to help with the congestion until the antibiotic kicks in, but really at this point you just gotta wait it out. The antibiotic will likely clear up the ear infection and the eye issue as well depending on what it is.

Keep watch that he doesn't get worse, and be sure to give the antibiotic as instructed, in a few days he'll be much better.

Also if the fever isn't high, it's better to not treat a fever. It's how the body fights germs and is a good thing, just dress him in lightweight clothing and keep the room cool. Dropping his temp to fast, like in a cold bath can do more harm than good, so just keep him as comfortable as possible until it passes.
