Can anyone recommend a couple of places to ski in NM? Any good accommodations too? We want to expose our child (3.5yrs) to the sport.
Thanks!

Hi. We go skiing in Taos and Santa Fe with the kids. There is a great ski school/resort in Taos that is excellent. It's actually ranked #1 in the country. It is called the Taos Ski Valley Resort and is located in the Southern Rocky Mountains of New Mexico. The slopes are never crowded and it offers just classic alpine skiing for all levels of skiers, expert to beginner, children, teens and adults.

I hope this helps!

Taos was an awesome ski place! We go went there and the skiing was amazing. THey have all levels of terrain. We recently stayed at the family run Austing Haus. It was a great little Inn, very reasonably priced (you can book through them directly or www.skitaos.org)and they had a wonderful breakfast included in the price. The room we stayed in would have been great for a family. There was a nice big queen sized bed downstairs with a TV and fireplace, and up in the loft, there was a second queen sized bed! They offer a free shuttle up to the mountain (2 minutes away) or you could always drive yourself! I highly reccomend it!

I suggest Santa Fe Ski Basin. It has a great ski school and is very family friendly. Taos is really an amazing EXPERT mountain.

We went to Red River and loved it! We stayed at a lodge on slopes and very reasonably priced. I would not waste your time with ANgelfire.

We went to Red River. It is a smaller town. Definitely a great place to learn how to ski.

I stayed in Red River and loved it. From there we were able to ski Red River, Angel Fire, Taos, and Ski Rio (Riodoso) (sp?). I loved Ski Rio because I was a novice when we went, it was very easy and fun. Taos was very nice but definitely harder. But I saw a lot more instructors there than anywhere else. They were also teaching snowboarding to the little kids. Angel Fire was ok.

I went to Red river when I was a kid and loved it! Probably about 15 years ago but it was great! Loved the small town feel of it. Can't remember where we stayed though.Have fun!
