Angel Fire is great for beginners. It's not very steep at all. But it's kind of boring for experianced skiiers. Santa Fe is really beautiful and has a lot of greens but also has more challenging runs. Another great thing about Santa Fe is Santa Fe itself, especially at Christmas! The town is gorgeous and there are a lot of great museums and shopping. Angel Fire is quaint and cozy, where Santa Fe is more luxurious, beautiful, artsy, etc. Taos is down right hard! I had nightmares the 1st time I skied there about falling. It is so steep it's very challenging. I don't know anything about Red River. Bottom line, if it were me I'd go to Santa Fe. But Angel Fire is a great 1st experiance.
Taos is a very hard mountain to ski, especially for beginners. Angel Fire would be my choice for a good mountain to learn to ski on, but Red River is a close second. You might want to get the kids or any adults who haven't skied enrolled in ski school so that you have some time to enjoy the mountain.
Red River!!!! They also have cross country skiing.
Red River definitely! They have the Enchanted Forest xcountry ski area nearby. We love it there!
