let her sleep! don't wake a sleeping baby to eat.. her body is learning to go thru the night without food, so it's fine.. she'll wake up when she's hungry.
Hi, My daughter is seven weeks old and seems healthy (gaining an ounce a day) and all that but the thing that worries me is that she goes for these really long stretches without food. It normally happens once a day, either late in the day or from the middle of the night onwards. If I don't wake her she goes for 7-8 hr stretches of sleep! maybe more, I have never dared try. It's been like this since the beginning. In the first month I used to not let her sleep for more than 4 hrs at a stretch, now I let her go longer. She has already been sleeping for 7 hrs now. I tried to wake her to feed but she didn't seem interested, went back to sleep. This is the longest I have let her be...

Hi M.. She is still young, so as long as she is gaining weight - let her sleep. I was paranoid about this too and always woke up my LO and now she is a horrible napper. I am not sure if one has to do with the other, but hindsight is 20/20. Once she gets a little older and still has night wakings (after 12 weeks) I would start to wake her during the day making sure she is eating fully every 3 hours. That means feed, burp, feed, burp and feed again. I hope this helps!
Thank your lucky stars you have a good sleeper!!! If you can, try to wake her during the day so that long stretch is in the middle of the night. I always tried to wake my babies every 3-4 hrs during the day (unless they woke on their own before then) to feed and then after 10 or so pm, let them go. I had good sleepers too and they would go from 10 or 11pm to 5 or 6am... that's through the night to me!!! Then YOU can get some sleep! If she is gaining weight you have nothing to worry about. She will eat when she's hungry! Good luck!
I had similar concerns with my 2nd baby, I called my pediatrician to get her advice, she had told me as long as she was taken about the right amount of formula in a 24hr period and she was wetting and pooping not to worry. So I would call her pediatrician to double check but my baby is now 17mos old and doing very well, she now sleeps 12-14 hrs at night and takes 1 nap a day. I get nervous even though this is my second baby, but the bigger they get it gets a little less nerve racking. Good luck and congrat!!
