I'm with Jennifer. My mom made me wear that stuff and I hated it. I swore my child would never wear it and she does not.
I also would not put smocking on a boy.
Some people love it.....that's great. I hate it.
Hello ladies. I have a random question people may or may not respond to.
Does anyone out there dress their children in smocked children's clothing??

oh i can't STAND that stuff! LOL - it is in my nightmares! before we had kids i told my husband and both grandmothers that our children will not wear that stuff.
Hi There,
I might relpy with some value if I understood the question... what is that?
I think its cute on smaller kids (3 yrs max). I LOVE the smocked dresses at Strausburg Childrens. They have store in the Gallaria and an outlet store at the Shops in Round Rock...if you're ever down that way.
My daughter's christmas dress was from there and she looked so pretty! It was red, green and white plaid, 100% silk with the smocking around the neck and on the sleeves. They are not cheap but she was gorgeous and it can be handed down to her little girl as it is a very classic dress.
I put my kids under the age of 3 in that they are boys and I like the carriage boutique clothing and my aunt makes smocked outfits for my baby still. but after the age of 3 MAX I think a boy is too old for smoking. but on a girl I think to 6-7 would be fine. I think its real cute.

I most definitely dress my daughter in smocked dresses and rompers. She wears them at least twice a week as she looks so cute in them. They are easy to wash and wear really well. She is 7 months but I will continue to buy for her for at least a few years. It is also nice for her to wear as she barely has any hair and I refuse to put on the headbands that I find tacky, tacky, tacky. This helps show off her feminine side. I also don't believe in wearing jean products under a year old- so I might be a little bit away from the norm.
My 6 year old niece still wears them too and gets compliments all of the time. She doesn't wear them exclusively but instead wears them occasionally to school and church.
When my boys were little, I loved having them in smocked clothing. But as they got older my husband put his foot down!
I buy my dd who is 5 smocked dresses all the time. I love them, they are so classic!!!
I like it on girls, not so much boys. My mom actually smocked my twin daughters blessing dresses for me as a baby present, they are still wearing them occasionally at two and will until they grow out of them. My 5 y/o wears smocked dresses too. I like the way it looks, but my mom does all things involving fabric, thread, yarn, or a sewing machine, so I have a bit of a taste for it. It might be a little old-fashioned, but I also believe that little girls clothing should have sleeves and when they wear dresses they should have slips and hose or bloomers. Can I ask why you ask?
Smocking is so cute! I had quite a few things that were smocked when I was little. Dress them in as much of it as you like, because when they get older they'll have their own opinions. :)
I wore them as a little girl, and I love that my daughter wears them now too :-) She ALWAYS receives compliments when she wears a smocked dress!
Update,
you can also get find great deals on ebay sometimes, I did, unless the stores are having a great sale or something!
I do! Smocked dresses or bloomer sets. How much more darling and cute and girlie can you get than a smocked dress.
I just discovered smocking and these beautiful dresses. She has the cutest sleeveless strasburgs for summer that are just darling and she LOVES them. These are perfect for dressing up or down, school, church, or portraits. She of course still has her "normal" stuff, but, some days she wants a pretty dress to wear and twirl in, and matter of fact, today was one of them.
I think I would have only put my son in a smocked sunsuit when he was a newborn and it was Easter portraits, a wedding or such.
Ericka....Smocking is a stitching detail. Look up strasburgchildren.com and you will see some beautiful outfits and dresses for examples.
Same with all fashion to me, some things are ugly and some things aren't. Some smocked dresses I don't like and some I do.
