I'm signing my 3 and 4 year old up for the Bitty Soccer program at the YMCA in Olathe. It looks just right and not as pricey.
My daughter who is 3 (she turns 4 at the end of April) saw some girls playing soccer at the park last weekend and has decided that she must play soccer, too! Does anyone know of any soccer classes/programs for 3-4 year olds in the Lenexa, Overland Park, or Olathe area? I found classes that I think would be great for her at All American Indoor Sports, but before I commit to spending $150 for 12 classes, I want to find out if there are any other options.

B., Check out Kansas RUSH Soccer. They have a great program and the coaches are paid, not just volunteers.

B.,
My 13 yo son has been playing soccer for years now. He plays outdoors through Johnson County Parks and Recs Department and indoor at All American (during the winter) I am sending you their link and feel free to call Chris Kurtx with any questions you my have. I hope you find something you like for your daughter! Playing soccer has been incredible for my son!
I would suggest looking into your area park and rec department options. They too often offer a "bitty soccer" or a combo of classes where they can try a variety of sports. (Which is nice, so you can see what other sports she may be interested in trying as well.) It's been a few years since mine attended, but I think it would be a great place to start. Also, maybe look into some summer camps too - I know several areas host Challenger soccer camps for a wide variety of ages. Good luck finding what will work for her! Soccer is such an amazing sport for kids to start with. I've been coaching for about 4 years and love seeing the kids develop!
Also, just fyi - if she likes the experience - she will be old enough to play league in the fall in some areas - I know Shawnee Soccer starts at 4 - just be prepared - registration is usually in June/1st of July. I know we missed my older daughters first year, because you sign up so much earlier than expected.
Good luck!
Someone already posted the link for Happy Feet, my son is 3 (will be 4 in June) and has been doing Happy Feet for the last 3 months. He really likes it, it's definitely on their level and keeps them interested. It's indoor and doesn't require any special gear and is very affordable. They also offer free "field time" on Friday mornings in addition to the actual class.
B.,
The YMCA has a ITTY BITTY soccer program, and it isn't very expensive. It is ran, almost totally by parents. Kids are put on teams, they get a jersey, and a soccer ball, with coed teams. You just volunteer to help after you get placed on a team, the 1st day.
I have 5 children, and I did this with the first 3.
It does take your evenings, twice a week or so.
My 4th child who is 3yrs now, wants to play soccer this spring, but he wants to play like his big brother's play -REAL SOCCER so I am just going to wait for Kansas Rush. It starts in just before Kindergarten. Kansas Rush is ran by a guy named Dan Naidu, ____@____.com could help answer any questions you may have, maybe.
With my 2nd oldest, I am afraid I started him too young, now he is in 1st grade and won't play any teams sport.
You may want to just go to friends or neighbors soccer games on Saturday mornings this spring, and then maybe she will want to say with it when she gets to be a big girl! Just a thought. Lone Elm fields, (at 175th? & hwy 169?)
has soccer games all spring, starting every hour or so.
Good Luck,
N., A Soccer Mom, for many years to come
We put my son in a great class for that age group through Johnson County Parks and Rec. I think it was called First Kicks. My son really enjoyed it and learned a lot of soccer skills through cute games. The "coaches" were young British guys--all the kids loved them. Good Luck!
my boys are 5 and 3 and they both play outdoor with JC parks and rec and indoor at all american. the all american is $$ but they will let you try a class to see if you like it before you join.
