Soft Diaper Recommendations

We have been using pampers swadlers since my son was born and loved how soft they were. Now he is growing out of the 2-3 stage and we can’t find any that compare. We tried the next stage in pampers (the caterpillar ones) and were really unhappy with how stiff and plasticy they were, we have also tried the huggies natural fit (which seem to be softer) but he pees through them when he sleeps through the night (the diaper explodes and the beading comes out and is all over the inside of his pajamas). Does anyone have any recommendations? It’s too expensive to buy a pack of diapers to find out when I get home they are stiff and plastic like on his little bottom.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thank you all for the great advice! It looks like I tried the wrong next step pampers and am going to try the crusers next and if that doesnt work I will try the natures baby since those were the top two most requested!

Thank you all again, it was great getting advice from other moms (I dont have any mom friends) who had been through the same thing! If any of you ever want to start mommy meetings or play dates let me know, Im in Sunnyvale!

K.,
We use gDiapers, which are a hybrid type of diaper. There is a cloth cover, and inside you put in a washable liner and a flushable insert. When the baby does his business, you can flush the insert, or compost it, if you're so inclined. The g's are very environmentally friendly, and there isn't any chlorine or bleach involved in the diaper process.
If you want to stick to disposables, try 7th Generation. They don't use any chlorine either.

Hello. I used the swaddlers until my son was in size two. I then switched to Costco brand diapers and I swear by them. I think they are very soft to the touch compared to many of the popular brands. I never had the problem that was mentioned before and will continue to buy them until he is potty trained. Many of my mom freinds use them as well. Good Luck

The funniest thing is that I tried Pampers on my son later and hated it to me it didn't work as well as Huggies Superme or their Wonderful overnights. Pamper always got lumpy and just didn't hold as well. I had tried Luv's for a while and really liked it before they changed thier design to that blue down the middle crude.

We had the same issue. The Pampers cruisers is what worked for us. The Baby-Dry ones were the ones that seemed plasticy to me.

We loved the Swaddlers too, and didn't like Luvs or Huggies diapers by comparison (including leak problems). The Pampers Cruisers are really good and almost as soft as Swaddlers, so that was our choice - we never did the Baby Dry ones and I'm guessing those are the "more plastic-y" feelings one you mentioned. Try the Cruisers...hope this helps!

i know there are two different type of pampers. Our favorite's were the cruiser's because the regular pampers were not as giving for crawling and stuff. We had the SAME issue with the huggies.

Hello, K.. I also used the swadlers on my daughter and loved them. Have you tried the Pampers Cruisers. There just as soft.

I would just try the "regular huggies" - with the stretch fit shown on the front. They are soft enough and hold in messes. Good luck

Hi K.,

We loved Swaddlers too! Our son always managed to pee through all types of diapers until we started using Pampers Cruisers. They are soft and have never let us down. You can try using a product called "diaper doubler" at night. They really soak up the excess pee so you dont end up with a wet kid and bed in the morning. We hated Huggies the most. One day at our Costco they were passing out samples of their brand diapers. We tried it and it was a hot mess!! The lining got all lumpy and bunchy and leaked everywhere. Cruisers are the best in my opinion. Good luck!

K.,

Are the catipillar ones called Pampers Cruisers? If not, then try the Cruisers. Although I can't remember how soft the swaddlers were, these feel pretty good to me!

Also, if you find that your son is leaking at night, try using the Huggies Goodnites or Overnites. They are really absorbent!

Good luck,
K.

We use the Seventh Generation Diapers and they seem to be soft enough. My daughter doesn't seem to get any diaper rash from them and she doesn't leak at night.

We started with the Swaddlers as well. I now use the Wal-Mart Brand, Parent's choice. I am not a fan of Wal- Mart and I have to go out of my way to buy them, but I like the diapers. I did not like the huggies, pampers or the CVS brand(probably the worst). Good luck!

We're still in size 1 but we just switched from Swaddlers to Nature Baby - they're available at Target for the same price, they don't spend money on marketing so they can use materials that are biodegradable - better for the environment and baby's skin. So far we haven't had any leakage issues and our dd is a heavy wetter, particularly at night. Just thought I'd throw it out there since it's such a new product and as I said, they don't advertise.

I like the regular huggies(the red and white packaging). my son doesnt pee through them and they dont seem to leak the beads when it is really full. try a bigger size just at night so your son wont over flow the diaper.

We switched to Luvs & Pampers Baby Dry, they may not be super soft, but i never really had any leaking problems during the day or night. I think as they get older they pee right through the soft diapers.

A lot of people say to get overnight diapers, but I have found them literally impossible to find. I had the same problem you do with leaking and such. I used to use Pampers, but the larger sizes seem to give my son diaper rash, though The Pampers Baby Dry are super absorbent and really soft....I was using Huggies, but having leaking problems. I was told to try Costco diapers. They work great! They aren't super scratchy or super soft- just somewhere in the middle and I haven't had a leak since. Not to mention the money we save.... Good luck!

My daughter is now in the size 2 Huggies Snug and Dry. I really like them they have a narrower cut in the middle unlike the pampers and are soft and seem to be really absorbent. Though like the natural fit diapers if your son puts his legs in the air a lot if the diaper is not on tight it can leak down his back when he pees. I've only had that happen with my daughter once. Good Luck!

I went through the same problem when my daughter out-grew the Pampers. Now I use Huggies. But not the supreme or any of those. Just the regular ol' Huggies. I buy them at Costco (very cheap there). Give them a try. :)

I'm not sure what they have on them now, but after the swaddlers comes the cruisers, which were my favorite diaper for a long time. They aren't quite as soft as the swaddlers, but they do a good job of holding it in at night!

I know what you mean about not wanting to purchase a whole bag just to test.
We use Huggies Supreme for the same reason, they were softer and seem to have a better shape to them. I've seen up to a size 6 or 7.There are night time diapers which absord a GREAT deal more, or I've heard that some people use one size larger. For me, the night time diapers worked perfectly.
good luck.

We are using Pampers cruisers for day and Huggies Night Diapers for night. I have never had a problem with Huggies Night diapers leaking and they are on the girls from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am every night.

I also agree with everyone about the pampers cruisers (even though i now use pampers baby dry), my trick with my first son was to buy bigger size diapers so that he wouldn't leak. It helped me...

I used pampers swadlers on my son too. We just moved up to the Pampers Cruisers (size 3) during the day and Huggies Overnights during the night. I actually had to get a size 4 in the overnights. I tried the size 3 and he pee'd right through those. So far so good on the size 4! You might want to try those for the night. Good luck!!

The other pampers (there are 2 kinds, I think you're talking about the baby dry, but I used the pampers cruisers) are better. I totally agree with you about the swaddlers- I LOVED LOVED LOVED them. I hate the cartoons on other diapers. But lately, and I don't think they carry them at all Targets, but Target has been carrying these new environmentally friendly diapers and I LOVE them. They're cute, they're soft on the outside (they are just a touch bulkier, but it's not awful), and I love that they're not as bad for the environment. I'd look and see what they're called, but the baby's asleep and I don't want to wake her up. They are with the other diapers though, or sometimes they have them on the end of an aisle in the baby section. Also, the kirkland diapers are really soft on the outside, but I don't think they have the coverage.

(edited to say) Yes! Another poster said it, too. They're called Nature Baby. And they are awesome! Mine is a heavy wetter at night, too, and they have awesome coverage. Plus I love the cute leaf pattern on them.
