Sports Bra Help & Recommendations, Please!

Hello ladies, I have been wearing a sports bra since last year, which I purchased from Wal-Mart. It's a Danskin, nothing fancy. I believe it is a size large. I never did like the way it fit or the way it looked, as it made me look like I had a uniboob and I did not feel like it gave me much support at all, but I was clueless as to sizes and models, so I chose something that didn't fall off my shoulders, even if it seemed unflattering. They don't really have any salespeople at Wal-Mart so I was on my own.

You can probably tell I don't know much about sports bras, so I wasn't expecting it to give me a nice chest since it's meant to be a sports bra, not lingerie, so I assumed the uniboob thing was normal, but my co-worker claims her sports bra makes her chest look so good that she wears it instead of her normal bra, so now I am wondering if mine actually is an ill fit. Whenever I do jumping jacks or run, my breasts feel like they have no support and are bouncing so much that my chest literally hurts. I thought this was the price I had to pay for having a large chest and there was nothing to be done about it. I wanted to take up jogging to add more exercise to my weekly routine but there's no way I can run for 5 minutes, much less an hour in this bra. Not to mention, the elastic that goes under the breasts seems to be tattering.

Do any of you have suggestions as to cheap yet good brands and models of sports bras for busty gals? Do you think mine is a bad fit based on the lack of support or is this normal of sports bras when it comes to busty women? I don't even know what size I should wear. My normal bra is a 38DD and it seems that my normal bra, which has underwires, supports my breasts better than my current sports bra, and the many sports bras I tried on today at Marshall's so I am feeling even more clueless and frustrated! I appreciate any advice you can give me in finding the perfect sports bra.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up getting a Moving Comfort Luna model. It definitely compresses and protects from bouncing pain, but it also makes you look a cup size or 2 smaller, which might be an issue for some.

Title Nine has a great selection of bras, for all sizes:

Or, I would go to a running store and try on a variety of styles. If you are bigger, you might need to pay a little more to get the support you need. It will be worth it if you can run with no discomfort.

There are FITTED underwire sports bras out there. Also fitted non-underwire sports bras. And dozens, and dozens of styles of them (front closure, back closure, t back, strap back, racer back, multiple strap, changable strap)...

I'm a 36DDDD or 38DDD... So that's the size I buy.

When my chest was larger when I was still nursing, I got a sports bra that had underwires rather than just the stretchy things I wore before and now. It really did a nice job holding everything still in a way that the more typical sportsbras couldn't.

My advice is to invest a little more money to get something that really works for you. It'll be worth it in the end. Try going to a running store and get a person to help you find something. Even if you don't buy it THERE they can help you get a proper fit etc.

Uniboob's are out! I used to wear that type of bra before I found Title Nine also. I am a 36DDD and like the underwire workout bras, they really work and look great too!

I LOVE my sports bra from moving comfort. I buy the Juno style. 5 stars!!! No bounce at all. I used to have to wear 2 sprts bras and still felt uncomfortable. I found this style by goung in to a running store and trying on a few style and also researching online.

I've always had good luck with the Champion sport's bras from a sporting good's store. I think they're $30 on sale - they are reversible, very tight and when I run, I don't feel a thing - even though I used to be very large-chested. My boobs shrunk once I started exercising, but the bra is still very tight on me.

Title Nine, Title Nine, Title Nine, as the posters below said. You will spend a little more $$, but totally worth it. You might want to buy 2 or 3 different ones to find the kind you like best. I had some from there that I wore for years. I'm a 36C and have been a runner since high school.

I have always heard that you can actually cause damage to your breasts by not having them supported properly during high-impact sports, so please be careful!

Yes, go to Title Nine. It's the only way. I finally broke down and ordered my first bras from there and I just don't know why I waited, except for laziness really. Being that big you probably will have to go with The Last Resort which is very detailed to put on and take off, but it is supposed to be the best. I ordered that one and another one (can't remember) but I must have measured wrong and I had to send the Last Resort back and I'm waiting for the smaller one to arrive. The other one I like for a daily workout which includes light jogging or fast walking. I am about a 38 G, maybe a bit smaller now.

I always hated sports bras because they never supported my heavy chest (38D) like I needed them to and gave that awful uniboob. After much research and shopping around I got a Moving Comfort sports bra. You can look at their website but I bought mine cheaper on Amazon. I got the Maia style, it has underwire and is very supportive. I have been very happy with it, and I have never been happy with a sports bra before. Hope you find one that works for you.
