Hello. I am a single mom of a six year old and an eleven year old. I am currently living in paducah kentucky. I am just about done with nursing school and it has always been my dream to move to st. louis right after graduation and work with children. I am very excited to move but also very scared. I would like to make sure that I have a much information as I can get first. I am looking for information on average pay for RNs in st louis. Good nieghborhhods not to far from the city and schools/ afterschool programs in the area. We do not have family there so some sort of daycare or after school program is a must. I am not sure haow to even begin so any help/information you can provide will be very helpful. Thank you in advance :)

I grew up in St. Louis and still have family there. My parents raised me in Kirkwood, which was a nice middle-class back in those days, but I think it has become much more expensive. They do have good schools. Crestwood and Webster Groves are also nice, family-friendly areas.

Hello,
I used to live across the river in the Belleville/Shiloh area. Shiloh and O'Fallon IL have great school systems and the area may be a little less expensive than the surrounding St. Louis burbs...the drive it a straight shot down interstate 64 to many of the main hospitals.

Good Luck!

I live in south county. Kind of a strange reference but it is a strange city in that we are the only city in the US where the county is not part of the city so specifically I live in unincorporated south St Louis county. South county is soooo much easier.

Pretty much the city is out if you have kids. West county you better be rich, north county is hit or miss, south is your generic middle class totally relaxed, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I work for doctors and my sister in law is a LPN, message me with what you are looking for and I can tell you pretty close to what you will make. :)

I can't help you with the pay of RNs in the area.

I did live in St. Louis until last year. It's a great area. My best advice would be DO NOT LIVE IN THE CITY! lol. It's very dangerous. Look into the surrounding suburbs. I lived in Arnold, Fenton is also a nice area, St. Charles is quite nice but slightly far from the city.

When I lived in Arnold I went to the Fox C-6 district and I loved it. I'm not sure how they're doing now, but I was an advanced student and they did a lot to aid my progress through high school. There are a lot of churches and other things around there as well.
