Have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? I have found that it works great. I used to use it on my glass top range.
Hi!
Does anyone have a method for getting crusted, burned-on junk off of the stovetop? Our stove is black, so it doesn't show all that much, but I want to get it clean! I have tried 409, scrubbing it with scouring pads, and soaking it, but nothing works. I don't want to try steel wool because I think it will take the paint off. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

i used ''super clean'' i usually buy it at walmart in the automotive section of the store. I do water it down a bit for everyday cleaning but if it is really a build up i spray it on full strenght and let it set for a few then wipe it clean. it will dry hands out so wear gloves.
I like the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser as well. Someone makes a competitor for cheaper, I think it's Scotch Bright. I don't like it as well. I think it's a case of you get what you pay for. GL!
I presume you're talking about a coil burner stove or gas and not a ceramic. If its a ceramic top, use the cleaner specially made - they work great.
try cola - seriously - the acid in coke/pepsi can do wonders.
vinegar might work as well but its a milder acid than soda.
my other suggestion would be baking soda - it acts like comet or ajax w/out being abrasive. Or Bon ami or Barkeepers friend - again they're not abrasive but scour.
Maybe try Easy Off oven cleaner? I've never done it on a stove top but it works sooo well in the oven!
