I took my children starting at 6 months to the Saint Paul Park and rec classes, they are very economical and throughout the city. Some of the pools are heated so some babies like it better.
Hi Moms!
Does anyone know a good place to call for swimming lessons for babies in St Paul or surrounding area?

Hi E.,
I have been going to the U for swimming with my daughter since she has been 6 month old. She is by far the youngest one there and we aren't able to do what the older ones can. It's really more about having her be comfortable in the water. They do songs and little exercises.

Hi E....K.'s husband responding...we take our boys to the YMCA in West St Paul, on Robert Street. Other Y's must offer similar lessons. My youngest is 2. I am not sure what the age requirements are, but give them a ring.

St. Paul Community Ed has swim lessons from 6 months, www.commed.spps.org or ###-###-####. I haven't done lessons through them, but I did with Minneapolis Community Ed a couple of years ago. They had some at the Jim Lupient Water Park which is next to the Quarry shopping center in Northeast Minneapolis. It is a great facility and not too far depending on where in St. Paul you live.
I definately recommend the YMCA! We're member's so it's cheap like $10 bucks for 7 weeks. My daughter is 4 and went from scaredy cat paranoia to self confident swimmer in just one year. All y's differ a bit so check with several.
Hi E.,
The St. Paul Red Cross will offer swimming lessons at a variety of locations. The phone number should be in the white/yellow pages and it is off of Robert Street in St. Paul. I would try them-Good Luck.
try st. paul comm. ed, Bridgeview school and como park elementary both have therapeutic pools that are warm. Session fee is @ 40$ for 7 wks, our class just ended last week. good luck.

Check with your local community center or Jr. High School if it has a pool. I took my daughter to swimming lessons at a place called The Grove in Inver Grove Heights. It's at the Veteran Memorial Center. They have classes 6 months and up.
I take my one-year-old to the YMCA for lessons as well. We take classes at the Southwest branch in Eagan, but there are several other YMCAs in the St. Paul area that offer classes. Some branches offer classes in a zero-depth warm water pool, others offer classes in their lap pool so it might be worth checking around to find out exactly what is offered at each branch.
Hello,
I have signed up my my daughter for swimming lessons through our local community education. Because she is 7 mo. a parent is required to swim with her. (We start next mo. so if you want I can let you know how they go.)
Good Luck, A.
E., it may be a bit far from you, but the Wise Swim School in Apple Valley is fantastic! The take babies from 6 months.
