Toddler Jeans

What is your opinion about toddler skinny jeans? Is it just another cut of pants? Does it make a difference with the embellishments on the pockets (back pockets too)? I see a lot of my brands (Rocawear, Akademiks, etc) that sell the toddler skinny jeans that have stuff on the back pockets and I haven't really thought if I would care or not if she had a pair like that. I wear skinny jeans because they are comfortable (tight all down the leg, no rubbing jean on my calf), but haven't decided with my daughter. What are your views? Is it sexualizing or is it just another pair of pants that happens to be tighter on their legs?

So What Happened?

Right on. I wasn't sure how people felt about it. I'm so used to skinny jeans that I'm desensitized to them in a sense so I wanted to take a step back and think and get opinions.

I was going to ask about the potty aspect lol. I never have a problem moving in them, but I wear them skinny but not painted on type skinny if that makes sense. They are clingy but not to the point where my legs can't breathe. All my skinny jeans have a certain percentage of spandex in them too... not sure how toddler ones are made.

Mamazita, I don't personally believe they are (but I do wear skinny jeans myself), but I have heard different opinions on toddler skinny jeans trying to sexualize toddlers into mini adults or something of that nature, so I asked you mommies what you think :)

I have also come across people that don't care about the skinny jeans, but having embellishments on the back pockets was a different story. Just curious what y'all think about it.

Thanks moms, I honestly thought this would be a controversial topic but it doesn't seem to be. If there is someone with an opposing view feel more than free to add it.

as a daycare provider, I prefer looseness when it comes to bathroom duties. For me, that's the #1 priority when it comes to children's clothing.

Comfort & ease, please....especially when in the bathroom!

Skinny jeans sexualizing? I am in love with little leggings and I don't think those are sexualizing at all. Though, for toddlers, I usually prefer cute AND comfortable, and not sure how easy those jeans would be.

Now, IF those jeans were worn with like a halter top or something, then yes, that would be just in poor taste and could certainly be a sexualized outfit.

I don't see anything wrong with skinny jeans.. They look just like the leggings my daughter wears all the time. Things are only sexual if you make them as such.

Personally I would want my toddler to be able to move around with out any restriction. I haven't worn any skinny jeans, but they just look soo restricting. My sister had a pair and she looked like she could only sit down for a minute before she got so uncomfortable. That would be my only concern.

Anything in 'fashion' will get sold and marketed to all ages of kids.
You don't have to buy it.

My daughter is 8, she doesn't have skinny jeans.
She could care less about it, regardless if other classmates has it or not.

I don't think it's necessarily sexualizing a toddler...but I don't like giving in to trends especially when they fall on the "uncomfortable" side. Unless you are super skinny, skinny jeans don't look nice or feel comfortable...hence the name "skinny" jeans. They look best on teens (and I guess I'm just out of the loop, because I really prefer a nice boot cut.)

However, I bought the CUTEST little black cotton pants that were made to "look" like skinny jeans, I guess (with the stiching, etc) and they were so adorable on my baby I just would giggle every time I put them on her chubby little legs. She's outgrown them now... :(

My girls wear leggings practically every day. Tightish jeans are the same thing in my opinion. That said, I can't get my girls to wear jeans - they say the buttons in the front cut into their stomachs. All they'll wear are cotton pants. (sigh)

Last year my daughter (almost 5) wore jeggings a lot with longer shirts. They weren't embellished and they were so comfortable for her. No snaps or zippers. She's tall and thin and they were really cute on her.

Both my girls have a couple of pair of skinny jeans, they are as confortable as any other type of jeans, but we really dont wear jeans in the summer, and in the winter or fall, they wear the skinny jeans mainly with boots. I dont like the look of skinny jeans with tennis shoes, even on myself. I just dont like the jeans, any kind, women, men, or kids that have all the stuff n the butt, or on the leg, i like plain jeans, different washes, but no rhinestones, or glitter.
But on kids, i prefer boot cut or straight leg, mainly childrens place or old navy.

A lot of companies think it's cute to make toddler clothes in whatever the style of the day happens to be. I don't think it's sexualizing at all.

I have never seen a toddler in skinny jeans, I don't know if I would notice that they were skinny in particular. It would be pretty hard to sexualize a potbellied little toddler... lol.
I would worry more about a toddlers comfort in a pair of jeans that tight. My daughter (2 1/2) hates wearing anything that is not leggings, shorts or a dress because she needs to be able to move freely.

It's not the cut that I don't like on those jeans, it's the embellishment on the back pockets. I think it looks cheesy even for adults. I am not into that kind of urban style. I like the stretchy skinny cut for kids as long as your kid isn't fat and looks like a little sausage. My son is slender and I really like the Gap's skinny cut for him because its not painted on, its just closer to the body yet still gives him room for movement. I HATE baggy clothes on anyone. It looks slovenly at best and gang banger at worst. As long as what you put your child is is flattering, age appropriate, and comfortable then it's great!

I don't see any difference between these and leggings (?) When my oldest daughter (now almost 16) was a toddler leggings were her favorite, I'm sure they were the most comfortable. She was a very active, rough and tumble girl. How on Earth could this be considered "sexualizing?"
