Treatment for Scar on Baby

My active daughter crawled over to a little table at my mom's house and pulled it right over on top of her. My husband, sister, my mom and I were all in the room and we could not get their quick enough to stop the table from falling on her. We took her to the Emergency Room where she got 3 stitches above her eye, below her eyebrow. This was almost 2 months ago, the cut has turned into a scar. Do you have any ideas on making the scar less obvious. It would be nice if it would just go away. Thank you!

K., you have had a lot of great advice. The vitamin E cream, and the massaging are great ones. Also, by the time she is in school most likely the scare will be in her hairline and not noticable at all.

There are several scar treatments over the counter that are good and will help to heal it more quickly. Honestly though, as time passes and she grows the scar will heal on its own and be hardly seen even in a year. Since it's in her eye area the risk of getting an ointment in her eye might be risky. It will be really pink and noticeable for a while but just give it some time. I have a scar on my leg that involved 18 stitches. At first it looked terrible but within a year or two, it was tan and now you have to point it out to notice it.

There is a lotion at the drug store that is suppose to help with scars ( I can't remember the name but the druggist should be able to help, if not mail me back and I will find it)

My daughter had open-heart surgery at 5 days old, and her pediatrician recommended Maderma for kids to treat the scar. You can find a coupon online usually for a buck or two off.

Try vitamin E oil. It's what people use to use to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Being all natural, it is safer than any over the counter cream.

Mederma can be pricey but works great to minimize the scarring. Short of plastic surgery, I doubt anything will make it go away.

Hi K.! Try Arbonne Skin Conditioning Oil...it should do the trick. I am a baby boomer mother of 3 and am experiencing SEVERE empty-nest syndrome, perimenopausal symptoms and probably a midlife crisis somewhere in the mix!!! I say that to say, even though I am a clinical laboratory scientist, God has given me a new passion and a new direction in life with the health and wellness products of a company named Arbonne. The chemistry is cutting edge but as a mom, all you really need to know is that Arbonne's products are ALL botanically based...PURE, SAFE and BENEFICIAL! The oil I am referring to is amazing and again, should do the trick. You will have to get Arbonne through a trained consultant. If you can't find one in you area just give me a call or shoot me an email. I keep this oil in stock because it is good for many, many skin issues. Take care and I hope this helps! ____@____.com

My little girl got 4 stitches in the exact same place. I used Mederma for Kids (purple top tube) and it worked GREAT! Its been about a year and you can't even tell she had a cut there unless you look really hard. But nothing shows up in pictures and hers was really pinkie purple when the stitches came out. Good Luck!

Vitamin E and/ or Mederma for kids! When my daughter fell and had road rash on her face, I cut open Vitamin E capsules and rubbed the liquid gell onto her wound. Then, after the scabs went away, I bought Mederma for kids and put it on there for an additional three weeks and now you can't even tell she had it. She had the road rash from her scalp all the way to her chin including her eye lid. It was terrible. I will honestly say there is no sign or scar of it either. When I took her to the docotor they told me to put neosporin on it until it healed then do the vitamin E and Mederma, so I did. They told me that was my best bet so that it would not scar, and it didn't, THANK GOD!

I have a scar on my cheek that I got when I was a little kid. We put Vitamin E onit every morning and night. They also now make something called Mederma for kids. I would tyr this as well. You can only see my scar at certain angles but not when I have make up on... Pure Vitamin E is the way to go.

You can try pure Emu Oil, you can get it at the Oklahoma products store at Promanod mall or you can getit at the fair next month. I've see this stuff work wonders. My daughter had a 2nd degree burn on her had when she was younger and has no scar. In fact you can't even tell she was burned. I have also seen it on friends that have had gastric bypass and their scars were very minimal. Hope this helps.

My daughter had two sugeries around the time she turned 2. The surgeons told us to use polysporin after the wound had completely closed, but not before. Also they have Mederma for kids now. I am not sure where you can get it, though. Hope this helps!

K.,
When I was a foster parent I had a little 21 month old burn victum. He had burns all over his little face. The burns were 2nd, & 3rd degree. While I doctored his face with luke warm water and dial soap. I would put neasporin (sp ck) then as they healed the doctors told me to massage his face by rubbing in circular motion on area.
I did this and it became a little fun play. I would walk up to him and circular motion on his cheeks and chin and say OOOO your so cute. He would laugh and I would do this through out the day & as I put him to sleep to comfort him
That was 8 years ago. I saw him the other day at walmart. You can't even see any scares. Doctors told me it was due to massaging the scars and breaking down the scar tissues. Good luck. I bet your daughter is beautiful!

vitamin E has helped me in the past. I also use this a natural-based product from a health company that has fixed a number of skin issues for me and my kids.

By the way, my youngest boy was born on the same day as your daughter. :-)

My son had a similar accident at age 2 with several stitches right above his left eye. The scar will fade - his is not visible and hasn't been for several years. But if you are really wanting to do something - apply a little vitamin E oil once or twice a day. Good luck.

Hi K.,

You can follow the below to see what I've been using on my grandkids for their scarring. They are old enough to both take internally and apply externally; however, with your little one being so little yet, I would recommend just the external. You would puncture the capsule and apply just a drop or two and rub into the scar. It won't make it disappear altogether, but it will help it fade.

I have a scar on my forehead from when I was 2-I didn't even know I had it until I was in Jr High, my mom pointed it out to me-she just used antibiotic ointment on it until it healed and it's barely noticeable. Since she's so young it will probably heal well, it just takes a little time.

It may be too late right now, but use vitamin E goo from inside a capsule day-after-day. That's what my surgeon recommended for my thyroid scar and it is barely visable.

As your daughter grows older, the scar will be less and less prominant as it will stay the same size and the rest of her face will grow.

Actually the placement of the scar is in a great place. As she grows it will move up into her eyebrow and not be very noticable at all. My daughter had stitches in the same place and by the time she was 5 or 6 it was not showing at all. You may try putting maderma on it though and that will hep it a lot.

There are a lot of scar creams on the market but I found that vitamin E serum is the best. You can get it bottled or break the capsules open. But you need not worry too much. The scar will be barely noticeable when she is older. My 11 year old daughter fell on a bike spoke when she was 2 and had to have stitches. The cut was right next to her eye brow and now it is closer to her hair line. You can't see it unless you look for it. I hope all goes well with your daughter!
