Hey moms! We've been trying to conceive our 3rd child for almost a year with no luck. :( We have 2 boys and could care less if we have another boy or a girl...we would be happy with either. I started teaching part-time at my sons preschool...and am thinking maybe the stress of the change from staying home to now working has maybe messed up things. Have any of you guys had a difficult time and got thru it successfully?

What can I do next?

We tried for #2 for nearly 4 years. We gave up and decided the best thing was for me to get healthy again. I lost a lot of inches (the scale didn't move, but I went down 3 sizes!) and changed my diet using a personal trainer. I had some major hormone issues going on, although I was only 27. I started seeing a naturopath & discovered I was menopausal and had all sorts of other issues going on. Within 4 months of seeing her the first time, we were pg w/#2!
The joke is she fixed me too well b/c now I'm pg w/#3 who is due just 2 weeks before #2's 1st bday!! This one was a major shock as we thought we were done, but as it gets closer we're getting more excited (1 month to go!).
Obviously there were a lot of factors for me, and who knows which one specifically made the difference. As the pp already said, there are so many factors that can affect TTC. Just want you to know I've been in your shoes and totally understand. We got through it and were able to conceive.

All 3 of our kiddos were surprises. With #1 we tried for 9 mos & gave up because the timing was awful anyway and we decided we really weren't ready. We tried for so long for #2, and then #3 came right after. In all 3 pregnancies, we'd given up and accepted what we had and then it just happened.

Are you going by your Ovulation symptoms??? Are you regular???
That is what I did. But my periods are real regular.... and my ovulation symptoms are not easy to miss.

Ask your Doctor....
My Doc says, that if after 6 months a couple does not get pregnant... then he looks into why or why not.

You might also take, Prenatal vitamins.
That is what my OB/GYN always said to take... even when wanting to conceive.

I don't know your age, but I've heard (Obviously, I'm no Dr!) age can contribute to fertility problems. Have you ever read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility?" It could be very helpful, to you. They have a website, also. Good Luck!!

What maybe(?) helped me...following the Infertility Diet book. It recommends a short list of ingredients - greens, yams, whole grains, sprouts, garlic, and more, but no dairy or meat. It was very healthy but not something I could stay on for too long!

Take care, A.

Just wanted to share my experience. I was 32 when we had our first and got pregnant as soon as we tried. We planned all ours close together. As soon as the first one turned 1, I was pregnant again, and the same with our third. So I was 32, 33, 36 at the time. When we tried for our fourth, it took longer. We were about 8 months behind track. So I was 38 with the last one. Anyway, my point is, depending on your age, it can start to take longer to get pregnant.

Don't know how old you are, but fertility starts declining in your 30's. I found this out when we were trying for #2. I consulted many doctors, lots of procedures, but what I believed helped the most was accupuncture and Chinese herbs. Good luck.

It took us 15mos to get pregnant with our oldest, 22mos to get pregnant with our youngest, and we tried for 2yrs for #3 before moving on early with our plans to adopt. We've been home for 3wks with our sweet daughter from Ukraine. :)

We were both checked out, no problems found with either of us othr than I have a prone uterus. We just had a hard time getting pregnant, no reason why.We had always planned on adopting and decided to go ahead with our plans instead of continuing to try and get pregnant.

Stress CAN have an impact, but get checked out anyway. A friend of mine never could get pg with her second, and when she went in for a hysterectomy many years later, they discovered that she had developed endometriosis after her first. If she'd gone in for treatment while TTC, she may have been successful.
