I love proactive! It works for me and you can regulate how often you receive shipments...I actually only use the cleanser...but it comes with toner and lotion as well. Good Luck!
I am 28 years old and have two children. I'm pretty sure our family is complete, but not yet ready to do any kind of permanent birth control. So, in August of 07', I got the 5 year Mirena IUD. I LOVE it! BUT, I now have stubborn yucky acne. I'm really not wanting to give up my IUD, but this acne is driving me crazy. I've tried everything & spent so much money on different products.......like the Clinique Acne Care line, Origins, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I could try. I exercise 5 days a week....drink tons of water and am generally a healthy person. I've been looking into the Philosophy and Murad lines....but, again, they're so expensive and who knows if it'll work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank you to everyone for your wonderful advice!!! I tried ProActive many years ago when it was new on the market, but haven't used it in years. Someone said it is now available at WalMart (how great!), so I'm going to get some and give it another shot. By no means is my acne crazy bad, but it's bad enough to bother me. I'm crossing my fingers that it will help tone it down a bit. I'm going to start taking the Vitamin A as well. I think I need to find a good vitamin regimen anyway. Matter of fact.......that's my next posting! =0)

my sister has had great success with Proactive. She's had acne problems her entire life (plus she has major combo skin... really oily T zone & dry patches on her cheeks) and this is the first thing she has used that she has had positive results with & in only a few days. I bought her the sample set ($20) and she just got the full size set & said it was well worth it! The sample set isn't a big investment so try that before getting the full size ones. I hope this helps :)
Hi M.! I am 31 years old and still battle acne at times. I have been using a Tea Tree Oil face wash, face lotion and toner from Bath and Body. My sister-in-law sells this....if you would like more info please contact me at ____@____.com. These products have worked well for me..
I've used the Arbonne products myself and found them to work wonders. They are all natural products. When all else fails there's always dermatologists...not all of them use medications.
Have you tried Mary Kay before? They have great skin care products. What do you use to wash your face in the morning and at night? Would you like to get a free facial? Call me at ###-###-####. I would be happy to give you one.
Sincerely,
V. Kelly
Hi M.... I too am a ARBONNE Consultant...Check out the product ____@____.com I can get it for you at a discount!! I personally havnt tried it...but its always worth a try :)
Contact me @ ____@____.com for a immediate response.
I did not know that an IUD could cause acne! I will tell you this, I had terrible acne from 28-30 years of age and was on no birth control and had not had children. Many of my friends, as well as my sister experienced the same thing. I got painful acne all along my jaw line and chin every month during my period. I used Clean and Clear's Persa-gel on the direct spots and even slept with neosporin and a band-aid on really bad ones. It was tough.
When I turned Thirty it just stopped. I am now 40 yrs old have two small children and can't even manage to get in the shower everyday and I rarely have any acne. Even when I do it is nothing big . I would also try Jason products - The vitamin C anti-age line is none greasy and all natural. It ain't cheap though. You can find it at Wal-greens and on Amazon.com
Check out Avon's CLEARSKIN line at www.youravon.com/stellapayne or you can email me at ____@____.com for more info.
BeautiControl's All-Clear skincare system is amazing. It is 59.50 and I swear by it. I used to use Proactive and I liked it but it never cleared me up completely. I started using All-Clear and I absolutely love it. I have a friend that sells it and that is where I get mine from. If you are interested, I can give you her info and you can call her.
I have the same problem. I noticed a huge improvement when using original Noxema to wash my face. I have also started using Body Shop Tea Tree oil products which are designed for acne prone skin. These also work well. I still have breakouts from time to time, but nothing persistent like before.
Have you ever tried the Mary Kay products? I used to have really bad ache until I started using the Mary Kay products. they have a bar facial soap, face lotion and so much more. You can usually find a seller on the internet. Hope it works. :) T.
i have mirena....also love it....i however, have not ever had any problems with acne with it. I do use Philosophy products, though and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I use "purity made simple" face wash, and "hope in a jar" cream. i have tried the exfoliators and lotions as well, and absolutely love them. worth every penny. also, because you don't really need to use much...sometimes, they last a really long time.
Good afternoon M.,
I'm a 33 year old mother of three. I've had the Mirena IUD for 3 years and love it as well. I know I don't want any more but my husband is unsure. I'm sorry that you're experiencing a nasty break out. Have you tried Mary Kay, we have a blemish control toner and acne treatmnt gel that may work for you.
M.,
I believe that without a doubt the best product on the market for either teenage or adult acne is a product line called Pro Active. You can see it on infomercials all the time but you can also go inline to Proactive.com and order it directly from the company. It is realtively inexpensive for the results achieved. I have 2 grown sons on active duty in the marine Corps. Both have been to Iraq several times where the whether and conditions wreaked havoc on their skin. Both of these young men have used this product with amazing results.
Look it up and give ti strong consideration before spending a great deal of money on other products that don't deliver.
J.
You should go to a Dermatologist if you have not already been
I don't have any great advice to cure your acne problem, but i had the same thing happen to me when i got the iud. My daughter was born in december 2007 and in january i got the device and had acne ever since. I also get these terrible blackheads that don't go away. I have started washing my face twice a day instead of once and use a toner. It seems to help some but not everytime. Your not alone on this, i know exactly how you feel.
M.,
Ihave the perfect line of products to help you and you will be so happy that yo gave it a try It is better than any product on the market; even those much more expensive. The line is especially for acne, but very gentle and luxurious and scientifically formulated. The value of thr product comes from it's effectiveness and it only takesavery smallamouny, so the containers last as long as a full year. The line is called Clear Action and you can find it at www.wandafloyd.mynuskin.com. A device that will make a phenomenal difference, the first time you use it, is the Galvanic Spa on the same web site.
Best wishes for your face,
W.

I know this is a different circumstance but my husband used to break out all over his forehead. He tried everything, including Proactive. Nothing worked. When we went home for Christmas my sister-in-law turned me on to a line of products through BeautiControl. They have an ance prone line called All Clear- it really worked. He has not had a breakout since. There is a facial cleanser, skin scrub, toner, and moisturizer. He uses them daily and we have had great results. They have a whole line of at home spa products that are amazing! They impressed me so much that I am now selling them. If you are interested in trying them, please let me know, I would be happy to help get you started.
M., you might also try the Tea Tree line from the Body ____@____.com's a very good product and with their items, a little goes a long way. They have a website, that will direct you to a locate rep, or you can just order on-line. Depending on where you live they also have stores in the Atlanta & Nashville areas. Good luck!
Proactive!!!!! I promise it works. Good Luck!

if all over the counter remedies have not workedsuch as benaol peroxide you might want to get a referal from your doc for a dermatologist, this advice comes from my 24 yo daughter who has the same problem with acne. hope this helps
Hi M.! It sounds as if your IUD is having some effect on your hormone balance which is usually the reason for acne at your age. Does the Mirena mean it has hormones? I'm not familiar with the new birth control products. When the problem is internal, no amount of expensive face products is going to solve the problem. If it just started since you've had the IUD then it points to that as the problem. Could you have it removed and wait six months and put it back? I was 30 when I decided my son and daughter was the perfect family and I had a tubal ligation done the quick, painless way through the belly button area. No problems, didn't have to take the first pain pill and the insurance paid for it. Well, maybe some of the younger women will have more advice to give you on this! Good Luck!!
P. S. I'm 64 now and grandmother of two!
Since you didn't mention proactive, I can only assume you have not tried that. This is some pretty good acne treatment that seems to work instantly. It is also inexpensive. You can go to www.proactive.com and look over the website. I have not tried the IUD but was thinking about getting it as well, but now will do a little more research on it.
Pro Active it's affordable and works wonders . I love the stuff . Good luck;)
Hi M.-
Your acne is most likely a result from hormonal imbalance. This is normal for women as we start approaching the 30 year old marker. I would recommend a natural progesterone cream to restore your hormonal balance. I am an independent consultant with Arbonne and would like to recommend our Prolief Natural Balancing Cream. I have several women who has seen significant imrpovements in their adult acne, in addition to various other female issues with this product.
Please feel free to contact me for additional information or visit my website at www.starks.myarbonne.com.
My best,
S.
Hi M.,
My name is S. and I also have the Mirena, Love it. I was starting to get acne and it to drove me crazy. I tried Arbonne NutriMin C RE9 and It worked miracles. I do still sometimes get acne around that time of my cycle. But it's nothing. You can get a 7 day trail packet to try it out. Also, you only use a little tiny dot of everything. It last forever.
Hope this helps.
I had horrible acne after I stopped nursing each of my children that would not go away, even with Dr. prescriptions, until I got pregnant again. It happened again after my last child and a friend finally recommended ProActive. I was unable to find this product but in Walmart found one that claimed to be similar, so I tried it. It's called Acne-Free and works miracles! Within days my complexion was perfect and I stopped using it. I figured I would have subsequent break-outs but 1 year later I'm still acne free! I have also seen it at Costco in larger quantities, but I certainly did not need that much. Just be sure not to go in the sun when you are using it. I was outside for about 15 minutes one day and got mild sunburn.

I am 29 and have had the same problem with the Mirena IUD. I absolutely love it but same bad acne problem. I just recently ordered Proactiv and have been using it for about 1 week. I really think it is helping tremendously. I have a 5 year old boy and little girl who turns 2 in June.
I absolutly do not reccomend Murad. My acne got even worse after I started using it. I only started getting acne after I had my son, oh the irony. But I started using Proactive and also switched all of my makeup to Physicians Formula, except my eyeshadow and mascara. It's the best it's been in years and I have tried EVERYTHING, even visits to the doc didn't clear up my acne. Best wishes. Hope this helps.
Try pro- active solutions for your acne. I am on ortho trycyclin lo for my bc. I have no problems with acne. I tried to get the mirena but it was so darn expensive and not covered by my insurence. o. t. l. os only 40 a month for me. I don't lnow if t his helps.
I sould see your doctor. I didn't personaly go thru this. I did how ever have a friend that had acne for years. Dont wait to long. Because you can get scaring. She now has no acne. And her skin is beautiful.
D.
Mary Kay acne treatment gel might work. I have hormonal outbreaks and that is the only thing that works on my acne due to hormones. Don't give up hope. Check out marykay.com. I would be happy to help you. Just e-mail me at ____@____.com. Thanks. N.
Hi. I started breaking out around 28 or so and used Proactive with great results. I am now 37 and use Acne Free which is half the price of Proactive and works just as well for me. The thing I like about Acne Free (available at Walmart or Walgreens)is that you can buy a bigger bottle of cleanser ($8-10?) without purchasing the entire kit ($20)---which I always seemed to run out of cleanser ahead of everyting else. Hopefully it will work for you too.
I love Murad! But, then.....I'm in my 50's and have been using it for at least 15 years. M., you should see a derm doctor. It is probably cheaper than Clinique or Murad to get the right prescription of creams. It's all about hormones not diet or whatever. The three girls next door are in their 20's and get a prescription, not retina either, of creams that do the trick. Actually their acne clears right up with the cream the doctor gives them. It's expensive, they have co-pay insurance though. Good luck, and have fun with your life!
Hi M.. As lng as you don't have an allergy to it, the best thing I've ever used is proactive. I first use it back in '97 and it's still going strong. D. G.
I also had the Mirena and started getting acne like I was going through puberty again! I'm 25 years old, with 3 kids and not ready to say I'm done adding to the family. This was one of the minor side effects (I had so many awful side effects that acne became the least of my worries!) that I had while using the Mirena. I had it removed 17 days ago and my acne has since improved and is getting better every day. Do you have other problems with the Mirena? There is a website that I highly recommend checking out, http://curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=713
I actually found this link on mamasource a few days after I had my Mirena removed and now have a legitimate reason for all the problems I experienced while on it - including acne! Good luck with whatever you decide but I wouldn't bother spending any more money on the acne cleansers/medications. I've tried them all to no avail, now that Mirena is out I use the Avon True Porefection line that I've been using for months and has made no difference with the Mirena and now without the MIrena it works great!
I've got one word for you: Proactive
I hope it works :)
Probably the only way to get rid of the acne is to get off the birth control. I was using the Nuvaring for a year and my face, back and even arms had acne. My dermatologist tried just about everything with nothing helping until she suggested I got off the Ring. I did and I haven't had a break out since ( 6 months and counting)She just told me that some folks are just more sensitive than others. Sorry I couldn't give you better news.
have you tried proactive solution. my best friend has had acne problems since she was a teen ager. she started using it several months ago and swears by it. i think it runs about $20 a month for the kit and you can now get it walmart.
Have you tried the Arbonne acne line? If you can find a consultant you could probably try the line for a few days without buying it first. I used to sell it and have a few friends who use it and like it. I think the website is www.arbonne.com where you can find a local consultant. Good luck.
Also, they have a hormone balancing cream that might help if it's hormone related.
Proactive works GREAT for me! Good luck
M., I'm not sure this works for everyone but it has worked for everyone I know that has tried it. Benadryl at bedtime for about a week! My neice, 26, 4 boys and also developed acne, she did the Benadryl and washed her face in the morning and at bedtime, cleared up completely in 2 weeks. My son, only 15, had a bad case of acne(due to puberty I'm sure) did the benadryl and cleaning and has not even had a pimple in over 3 months. My sons pediatrician said that if cleaning your skin is not clearing up the acne, it could be a simple allergy to something. You don't want to use products that will dry your skin out and you can not use Benadryl by mouth and topical cream at the same time. If you use the benadryl at bedtime, stick to a good soap and water cleaning and Oil of Olay moisturizer. I hope this works for you. You have to be patient and don't dry out your skin. It won't hurt to rule out an allergy and if it doesn't work, go to a dermatologist to see what the problem could be. I don't think the Mirena is the cause, just coincidence.
I never had a problem with acne when I was younger but when I got in my thirtys all of a sudden my face broke out and nothing I used worked. I went to see my family doctor about it. He had me by some Selsum Blue shampoo and put it on my face like a mask and leave it set for 10 minutes. After that wash my face as usual. After a couple of days my face was cleared up. When my daughter's face started breaking out that is what I had her do. It really works great.
Hey M., I have the mirena too, and have experienced a variety of side effects- that have just started to ease up 6 months into having it. My number 1 favorite product to help prevent breakouts is Dr Hauschka Day Oil. it is an oil that you use instead of moisterizer that helps your skin from over producing its own oils.
It is expensive, but you only use a little bit, and can use whatever cleaning/toning products you want. It usually lasts me almost a year. You can find it at large health food stores.
I am a ob/ md - you can try an antibiotic. Would be happy to see you OR I could recommend a dermatologist.
M.,
BeautiControl has an acne line of skin care that is really good. I sell BC, but I have never tried the acne line myself. I have several clients who have tried it and really like it. I have also had a client that tried it, and it did not work. Everyone's skin is different. If you would be interested in trying the BC products, let me know. I have heard a lot of good things about Proactive. Have you tried that one?

I am a 31 year old female who had the clearest skin ever in high school. Didn't wear makeup until I was a senior and while everyone was worried about their acne I was happy inside because I didn't have to deal with it. However after I had my little girl my hormones changed and my face started to break out. I tried everything under the sun. I started going to the dermatologist and having microderbrasion and it worked pretty good. I would go about 1 every 3 months. My face still broke out and I'm not talking just little pimples, I'm talking big big bumps on the sides of my face.I felt so embarrassed. However I started using proactive because being an adult it was the only thing that I tried that seemed to help. I still use it and have been for about 4 years. I get the occassional breakout but my skin looks 100% better. Try that. Sometimes you have to pay a little more to get better results. Good luck.
M.
I just wanted to let you know that I had that same problem but I am yazmin birth control. I sell Mary Kay and people have always told about their products so I tried them and they worked so I started selling them. So anyway they this line called the acne treatment and gel that you use. If you want I can more informant for you.
There are lots of reasons you could be having the acne. I went through the same thing when I went off the pill. Using a good skincare routine morning and night is essential and whether you have oily or dry skin you should also be moisturizing daily. Before you buy anything else make sure it has a money back guarantee. I know it is frustrating to spend all that money on different skincare stuff, and this is going to be a pain in butt to hear, but that may be part of your problem. If your cleanser is one brand and your moisturizer another, etc. the ingredients in one line are formulated to work within that line. So if you mix brands the ingredients can either react with each other and cause irritation, or cancel each other out, neutralizing the benefits. While that is probably not the cause of the problem, it may not be helping. So what ever skincare line you use the brand should be consistent. Also, especially using some expensive lines like that I would check to see if they have satisfaction guarantee, because you definitely should not have a drawer full of stuff that does not work for you. So I would try and get your money back if possible and then find a a good routine that includes a good cleanser, exfoliater and moisturizer. Personally, I have used Mary Kay for years, and it has helped my skin tremendously. I recently became a consultant because I love it so much and I would be glad to help you customize a skin care program that works for you. Mary Kay has a know-questions asked 100% satisfaction guarantee so you can find what works best for you, even if for some reason it is not Mary Kay. Please let me know if I can be of any help, and maybe we could set something up to get you on your way to glowing skin!
I'm probably not a good one to ask, but have you tried ProActiv? Unfortunately, over the counter stuff probably won't help much, b/c it's most likely the hormones being released that are giving you the skin problems. I hope you figure it out!!
Proactive is $40 a month and made my daughter's skin worse. Her face is so dry and flaky, she stop using Proactive months ago and her face is just now looking better. She is using St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Cucumber & Elastin Eye and Face gel. Once we get her skin moisturized, then she wants to try Clean Clear or Acne Free.
I had the same issue- I went to a local medical spa and had some chemical peels done and then had them recommend a cleansing line. I only do the peels about every 3 month and then use La Roche Posay cleanser- you can buy it at www.skinstore.com for less price then a local store and free shipping. There are many other lines out there but check out a local medical spa and they will put you in the right direction, I also found that it was less money just to get peels versus always trying something new. I also take Vitamin A, a single tab, daily and it helps. I was told by a dermatologist to try it, it does take about a month to see a difference with the Vitamin A. Good luck, it is horrible have acne as an adult- I can completely relate!
ProActive.....it worked mitracles for me. Since I have semi sensitive skin to acne products I only used the cleanser at night and that alone cleared my face up quickly. I dont know what they put in the stuff that is different than other acne products but it is the only thing that worked for me. I only use it every couple of days now (im 8 months pregnant on top of that so my horomones are all out of whack!)and I can not remember the last time I had a break out!
Hope this helps I know how aggrevating and embarassing acne is!
My sister had pretty good results with Proactive.
Try Arbonne's acne line. It works like pro-active but you can use it long term. Arbonne is botanically based and the acne line is affordable. I am a rep if you are interested.
We have an awesome All Clear skincare line that is just for acne prone skin. You can visit my website and read all about it. I think you will find some products that will be just what you are looking for. I would love to help you if I can!
Hi M.,
You are probably getting acne because birth control pills trick your body into thinking it is already pregnant, therefore messing with your horomone levels. Many women getting acne or worse acne when they're pregnant. When you levels are out of whack, no topical treatment is going to completely help. Something you put on your skin isn't going to completely stop whats going on inside of your body.
However, an antibiotic could possibly help with the growth of bacteria on your skin. <My story is that I had a little acne in high school, but most of mine started when I was in college. I went through every topical treatment and antiobiotic the dermatologist had to offer. And I worked for dermatologist so I had everything available to me. I finally did Accutane, if you have ever heard of that.> The antibiotics will probably work for a while, but more than likely you will become immune and keeping having to switch to a different one. Also, there are creams such as "Duac" that have a topical treatment AND an antibiotic in the cream that you could try. I believe it contains benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. A combo treatment will probably work best! Mine was pretty bad, but these always worked the best for me.
But, I'd definately see a dermatologist instead of trying all these different skin care lines. I tried about all of them including clinique and proactive, and they did not work. The dermatologist will be able to access you as an individual and prescribe something specifically for you. These skin care lines are necessarily not aimed specifically for you!
First: how long after you got the iud did you start getting acne? Second have you checked with the dr. Office that put the iud in and ask if others had simular problems and maybe get some advice from them. Good luck. S.
You could switch to the copper IUD. It doesn't have the horomones that my be causing you acne. It is just as effective. the down side, I'm told, is that you will have regular (heavy) periods. I am on it, but still breastfeeding, so no period yet.
Try Proactive....it is not all that expensive and it works.
i was having terrible acne problems after i had my son. what i found out is that all of the harsh acne products that i was using were actually making my skin worse. my skin had become so sensitive after my second pregnancy. i started using burts bees chamomile and soap bark cleanser and the carrot day and night creams, and have seen almost 100% improvement in my skin. these are not for acne, but give me a good clean face and are soooo gentile. it may be worth a try. the burts bees are actually less pricey than the oil of olay products that i was using before.
Try this: Use a clean travel-size bottle to mix 1 teaspoon vinegar and 10 teaspoons water. Clean your face as usual in the morning, then carry this bottle and a few cotton balls with you so you can dab acne spots several times during the day. This solution shouldn't dry out your skin, and the vinegar will help return your skin to a natural pH balance. The treatment may also help prevent future acne outbreaks. Discontinue use if irritation worsens.
I got this out of a book called "Over 100 Helpful Household Hints" and so far everything that I have tried from this book works GREAT!
Arbonne has this acne product line that people say work great. The products are all natural. If you are interested let me know.
I have the world's oiliest skin (even my eyelids are terrible!!) and I've begun using Proactiv Solution (again). This has helped to clear up my acne remarkably. But, the secret to my success is Mary Kay Toner for Acne Prone Skin. I use the Proactiv cleanser, Mary Kay toner and Proactiv Repairing Lotion. I strongly recommend!! Good Luck.
I'm married, work full-time, and 16 weeks into my first pregnancy.
I don't know what you can do about the acne that may help. Unfortunately most things are trial and error, which means spending money. I've been using Proactiv for several years and like it, but it took four months for me to see results with it. Recently I have broken out a little more than usual but with the changes that women go through I guess it's expected.
I myself am considering Mirena but don't know much about it other than what I've read online. Was it uncomfortable to insert, is there any pros and cons that you've experienced other than the acne that you would share? Thanks and good luck with your skin care!
Mary Kay has an acne cream that is only 7.00... many of my friends have had extreme luck with it.
I'm sorry about your acne. I also have the mirena and LOVE IT!! I would think that a skin specialist would be able to help, since I'm sure it's the hormones.
I was troubled to see the comment about it actually allowing pregnany and aborting the embryo. My best friend and I have researched this before either of us got one and have never found anything supporting that. Mirena's website is www.mirena-us.com for anyone who is interested in investigating. My friend just had hers removed and had no problems during or after. I've had mine a little over a year and couldn't be happier. I completely trust my MD's and I don't believe they would support something that wasn't safe.
Good Luck with your skin.
one word.... PROACTIV!!! Yes, the one on TV! I use it and I have friends who use it as well!!! Good luck! :)
I had the 5 year Mirena for about 5-6 months, it made me feel pregnant... morning sickness, irritability, emotional, AND I felt like I was having contractions like labor at least once a day for like an hour... I checked online and a lot of women had the same complaint, but I haven't heard about skin problems much. have you tried a dermatologist or called your OB? I hope it works out for you, I really thought it was the answer for me, I'm bummed that it didn't work out that way. good luck!
I struggled with acne for years and occasionally still have small outbreaks due to hormones. I have tried everything, too, but the one line that has helped me for the last 18 months is the Arbonne Clear Advantage line. It is pricey, but after trying everything else on the market (and it not working) this has become a lifesaver! Good luck!
I'm with u I loved my IUD but didn't like the breakout I tried everything that cost to much then I tried Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent it really worked for me I hope u try it and it works for u good luck! L.
did your doctor neglect to tell you the whole truth about your IUD??? Did your doctor tell you that the IUD DOES allow conception to take place but ABORTS the embreo(baby). This is not hearsay it is truth that has just recently been released about using IUD's.
I have used Proactive but it dried out my skin. Cleared most of the acne but my skin couldn't handle the dryness. I use Sever Acne Free. Works just as good as Proactive but without the dryness and so much cheaper.
The IUD is most likely throwing off your endocrine system. Burdock tea is very good for rebalancing it. It can be purchased in most health food stores in the bulk section or tea section. Drink at least 2 cups a day.
However, you may want to think about and research the natural rhythm method. IUD's are not very natural or loving to the body.
M.
The same thing happened when I went on birth control pills. The only thing I found that worked was Proactive. It took a couple of weeks but I finally started to notice my acne clearing up. I was on the pill for about 4 years and this is what worked for me. You can order it on line at www.Proactiv.com. Hope this helps.
Here's a couple web sites that may offer some ideas for you: deancoleman.com and naturesgift.com
I haven't tried any products from these places but they are a wonderful tool for jumping into essential oils for cosmetics. I know teatree oil is helpful in some instances. Rose oil has helped ease the redness in my face. I found most of the stuff on the market including lotions irritate my face due to all the chemicals in them. I'm a sucker for aloe vera as well. It has some amazing properties and results. Good luck! Try a few things and be patient!
M., I had the same problem, with the acne anyway and it affected me terribly. I went to a dermatologist and asked for Accutane, I had known a couple of people that had done it. It has changed my life. I was on it from November 07 until the end of May in 08. It is a pain because your whole body dries out and it is kind of expensive (not really if you have good insurance) (and you won't have to wash your hair as often) but worth every second. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. All the over counter treatments in the world are pretty much worthless if you have a moderate to severe case of acne. You have to vow to be on 2 different birth control methods the entire time because of the risk of birth defects, it is a very controlled drug. Again, I think it is a miracle drug. My face has been absolutely clear for 1 year now and it is wonderful!
Proactive is awesome for acne! I am currently 7 months pregnant and my skin broke out terribly in the first 5 months. Proactive was a life saver.
Good Luck!

Hi there. I have to agree with Sara- It's very possible that the very things you are using for the acne are causing more problems. Try using something very, very gentle and natural and splash rinse thoroughly; you may also need a gentle moisturizer while your skin heals. Sometimes the things that are made to help us out only cause us more sorrow, and that includes medicines. Try to go as natural as you can.
Best wishes and blessings,
S.
