Well, it's hard to determine what the rash looks like through the computer...take them to the Dr. for heaven's sake!!!! Why make them suffer anymore than they have
I need help! My 11yr old and now my 8yr old daughters have come down with a rash that itches like crazy and I have no idea what it is... I thought it was just an allergy when the 11yr old got it but since my 8yr has it now I don't know what to do! They're just small bumps with no heads. I've got benadryl cream, benadryl pills, calamine and nothing is helping! I even changed their sheets and sprayed their mattresses in case it was something on them. The next step is to go to the doctor but I've never had much luck with rashes and doctors....

I agree sounds like scabies. It is not highly contagious. I got it while no one else in my family did. They probably got it from being out doors. The only way to get rid of it is getting the prescribed lotion from the doctor. One application and its gone. Just wash all clothing and sheets after the treatment. The longer you wait to see a doctor the more it will spread.
Have you switched detergents lately? They might be allergic to it. Good luck.
Yes dermetologist. I agree since both kids have gotten it.
Are you sure it's not chickenpox? My grandson got chickenpox a couple of months ago along with poison ivy, so it was a weird mix of rashes. Good luck
Sounds like scabbies , which is a little mite under the skin. It itches like crazy and is very contagious. The intire family will need to be treated, normally a dermatoligist is the best for diagnosing this skin problem. The lotion is perscription only..google this mite and you will be able to collect a lot of information .
Best of health to all.
have you changed the clothes detergent? or have they been exposed to certain aerosol/perfumes? what about bathing soaps...
Sounds like scabies - they can be transmitted through close contact with a cat, and they are HIGHLY contageous. The rest of your household will get them if you don't take them to the doctor and get a prescription.
Try tea tree oil. It is inexpensive and helps with a multitude of skin rashes etc. I keep it on hand and have used it successfully on everything from a fungus under my fingernail to an unidentified rash on a child. You can buy it at any drug store.
Do you have any family history of eczema? This sounds very similar to something like I have and I have found that Aveeno cream w/hydrocortisone usually help the itching. If this is the case you need to take them to the doctor. Good luck.
It might be ezcema. My kids all get it when the whether gets cold. I use over-the-counter Gold Bond lotion. It works really well.
I wouldn't wait too long before I saw a doctor though, because rashes can sometimes accompany other things like strep throat.
Good luck!
It sound like excema. My son has had this since he was 3 mths old. Try to find an allergist in your area to make sure because excema can only get worse with sratching.
Have you changed laundry detergent / fabric softner recently?

I would consult with a dermatologist for this rash. Sometimes family physicians arent too familiar with skin rashes but dermatologists are. It is importamt that you call someone soon so that the rash doesnt become worse. I dont know where you are located but I work for a dermatologist in grand Prairie. I f your close by you can call ###-###-#### and schedule an appointment. But I wouldnt wait too long to treat.
I suggest taking them to an allergist or pediatric dermatologist (K. Robin Carder is great).
Dear N.,
Did you change anything in their environment at the onset of this situation, i.e. cleaning agents, different laundry soap, what are you spraying with, do you know its toxicity level? You may unknowingly be aggravating the situation. If you go to the Shaklee Get Clean site you can check out the EPA site that tells you the contents of what you are using that might be causing the problem.
Have they started to eat something they were not eating before? Sometimes you have to be a detective to figure out what the change was and reverse it.
Basically the immune system is not strong enough to offset what ever is causing the irritation. You can use a topical treatment for the symptoms but finding the root cause will be more powerful.
There are several simple things you can do to build their immunity like taking a good multi-spectrum, nutritionally balanced vitamin. You should know I am a Shaklee distributor and am passionate about our products. We have many clinical studies to substantiate that we are the best. Having cured so called "incurable without surgery" issues I am a stanch advocate of natural nutrition for giving the body what it needs to have a strong immune system.
You can go to the Shaklee site for additional info.
If you would like to talk with someone you are welcome to call me.
Love and Best Health Wishes.

My immediate thought was scabies as well. It is extremely itchy and contagious. A doctor will prescribe the right meds and a thorough washing os all clothes, linens, upholstery, etc. . . Will be required. So sorry, I know how overwhelming that sounds!
My friend's daughter had something like what you described. It turned out to be bacteria from her bath puff. It was hanging from the bathtub faucet, constantly getting wet and never drying out. Then she would use it when she bathed and her skin would get red bumps. Their pediatrician gave her a prescription and it went away.
You need to take them to the Dr. Since they both have it then it could be shingles. My son had the chicken pox as a baby so the dr. said that was why he caught the virus. If you let it go untreated it will get really painful and take longer to heal. I also wanted to add that it's a viral infection that they can get even without the chicken pox exposure. Good Luck!
no bumps at all? are they flat yet slightly raised, and red? could be hives? If they both have it could be contagious. If it is hives I would see, or at least call the pediatrician as hives can come from a virus. If you don't think it is hives go straight to a dermatologist. I understand about rashes and doctors. I had a terrible experience a few years ago and had to change pediatricians. The dermatologist knew what it was before he got in the room to see my son...poison ivy. Poison ivy runs kind of in a line. you need to get meds if that is it. you don't want it spreading or getting in their eyes. See a doctor!
My children's strep throats were characterized by facial and skin rash. Please make sure you seek medical attention
I hope it will end up being something else, and not strep
God Bless!
