Here's a pretty helpful chart, for substitutes for eggs in many types of baked goods:

My dd has an egg allergy. I would like to make a b-day cake from a mix (just because it has everything already in it and I'm not much of a cook or baker). Any suggestions on what to substitute for the egg that will help the cake rise and actually look good too?

Google it - cake mix without eggs - and you will get several options. I have never tried any of these recipes, but thought it might give you a place to start. Servings: 6 to 8
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 30 to 40 minutes
1 boxed cake mix
2 tsp. of vinegar
2 tsp. of vanilla
1 cup of applesauce
1 cup of cold water
OR
1 boxed cake mix
1 12-oz. can of cream soda
OR
1 boxed cake mix
12 oz. can of pumpkin puree
1/3 cup of water
Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Well, if you can excuse making a dessert that's yummy but doesn't look cake-like - try making a dump cake.
A cake mix, a can of fruit (peach, apple, cherry - what ever - you can combine fruits too) and butter is all you need.

These things are fabulously good and so easy to make!
Not the healthiest, but I have a couple of recipes that use a boxed cake mix and a can of diet Coke or diet 7-Up. I've also used non-diet.
I also do 3-2-1 individual cakes in the microwave. You mix an angel food cake mix and any other flavor cake mix. In a coffee mug you put 3 Tbs of cake mix, 2 Tbs water, mix, and microwave for 1 minute. They are a little more spongy than a baked cake but taste good.
I have a friend whose son has an egg allergy. She Googles eggless recipes all the time.
We always used the following:
1.5 TBSP of water
1.5 TBSP of oil
1 tsp of baking powder
Mix those three together and wait a couple of minutes before adding it to the recipe. It works great!
There are several dump cake recipes that you can google. I recently tried adding pumpkin puree to devil's food cake and it was disgusting!
I have done the crushed pineapple into angel food cake and it was FANTASTIC! Give that one a try. There are also some using sodas.
Well, this sounds almost as simple as a mix, although I haven't actually tried it myself yet. It just happened to be in yesterday's email!

The comments sound as though others have had success with it. Good luck, and happy birthday to your dd :-D
Yes. You can use applesauce instead.
It just won't be quite as fluffy.
No eggs in a box cake mix isn't a crime. Often my mom would forget to put the eggs in. It still tasted delicious from my memories but I'm a big fan of cake. The cake will stil rise. Happy baking.
My daughter makes cakes all the time, though never from a box. You should see the look I get from my 11 year old for buying boxed baked goods!! She doesn't always use eggs, I think she uses applesauce sometimes to replace them. But maybe that's for replacing oil.
Just Google it, I'm sure there are lots of easy recipes out there. One of the biggest secrets I know is to mix it for a long time, not just for 30 seconds, but more like 3 minutes.
google "vegan cake mix". Flax seed meal is the usual substitute, but baking is not forgiving. You need a recipe.
Well, try it. Cake mixes are about a buck.
Check out the natural/organic section at a grocery store. Many of those cake mixes are egg-free and have egg-free cooking options.
