What's a Reasonable Price to Pay for a Haircut and Color?

Hi,

I recently upgraded from getting my haircut at hair cuttery, etc type places and home coloring and tried out a salon that was highly recommended. I was in sticker shock when the price of a hair cut and color was $150.00. It is a really cute and great cut, but is this this going rate these days? Are there more reasonable places to go for a good cut and color in the Mount Prospect area?

What can I do next?

Try Terri Carlson at Salon Elite and Spa in Palatine - ###-###-####
They are about $100 - and Terri is one of the top 10 colorists in the nation according to L'Oreal. She is the best I have seen for choosing the right cut and color for your face shape and skin color.

I live in Mt. Prospect, and pay less than $100 (including a 20% tip!) for a cut and color. Try Scruples. I've been happy there. It's on Rand Rd. in Arlington Heights, across from the Chili's, I think (next to the Republican headquarters and a mattress store) I'm happier with them than I was when I went to the fancy salon across from Menards on Rand Road years ago.

I go to Fusion Hair Salon. I never did color there, but I A. get a good cut with shampoo and blow dry for $25.00. It's on Rand Road in Prospect Heights, right next to Taco Bell.

Got cut/highlight at Halo for under $100...I think it was maybe $90. I go to Laura, the owner who is very good at what she does. You can tell her C. W. sent you! It's on NW Highway by Oberweis, Caribou. They've made it a very nice experience in there and if you sign up for the email list there are occasional coupons/special offers that come by.

go online to Mario Tricoci University. They have students do the services and you save BIG bucks. While a normal hair cut at their salon in Woodfield costs between $42 and $55, the University costs $15. It's in Libertyville, and you need to book and wait, but the savings is huge.
