What's the Best Baby Bath?

I always used a baby tub in the regular tub. There is some bending, but it never bothered me. We had a Fisher Price tub that had a 3 in 1 system--a mesh hammock for the newborn, and then the tub was divided into two parts, one "deep" end for a bigger baby, and a side with a back rest for a younger one. It also had toys that were attached to it and was easy to clean.

COngrats and good luck with the little guy!! Impressive way to deliver, I tried the no drugs things for like 11 hours and then had to give in.
As for tubs, I have a 6month old and I bought when and used it like twice and just didnt like it. The first weeks you only give him a sponge bath (until his umbical cord falls off)- laying on your bed on a towel and washing him and then I actually started showering with my guy b/c he was liking the baby bath and then I actually started taking regular baths with him until he started to like the bath and now I just have chair (it looks like a bouncy chair) in the tub and he loves it. I still have bend over the tub, but its not as bad as having a baby tub.

With both of our kids, we started them out in the sink with the sponge support pad. You really don't need to use the bathtub until they are too big for the sink. Besides, it makes for great pictures! When they were big enough for the tub, we found a great baby tub that supported them as infants, and then converted to a round support that they sat in when they were old enough to sit up on their own. Your best bet is to really shop around to find what you think will work best for you and your baby.

I loved the kind that fit over the sink, but since your sink doesn't have a divider and is fairly large, you can either use the sink itself witht the spongy thing (to make it soft) or buy an infant tub and just set it on the kitchen counter next to the sink (just to make it easy to fill and drain). Save your back and don't lean over the tub until you HAVE to!

One tip: bathe the baby's body and then wrap him up, then when he's all cozy, hold him like a football and wash his hair/head over the sink. Makes for a much happier baby who doesn't get too cold.

lol...I had a great baby bath...but through all 3 of my children while they were babies, my favorite bathtub was the kitchen sink!

We use a bus tub (like what restaurants use to clear tables). I am a big fan of warm rooms for baths, so the kitchen sink wasn't an option. We put one of the yellow sponge bath thingies from Target in the bottom. I think it saves water, it is counter height, and easy to clean!

We just put a regular sized towel in the sink and lay the baby on that. It works well. I by far prefer it to leaning over the tub, and there's no extra cost to it, plus you can wash it everytime, so you know it's not harboring bacteria like a sponge can. We've do it this way for both of ours and plan it for #3. Congratulations on your soon-to-be arrival!

I have four kids, definitely spaced out so I have gotten to try a little bit of everything within the last 14 years. I now have a 10 month old and for my last three children I have used the meshy thing that kind of looks like a bouncer seat. It is totally comfortable for the baby and holds the baby's head up a little to prevent water running into the baby's ears. It's also very lightweight and super easy to store and dry. I also have several friends who have tried it and love it.

About the baby wash, I use the California Baby 'Super Sensitive' lotion and wash since I have been blessed with three little boys really prone to eczema(dry skin condition that can vary in severity). It has really really helped my to littlest boys and has no real scent or color. I really love the smell of baby lotions, but for obvious reasons cannot use those that are scented.
