D.D.
For a 10-month old, buy a box of diapers. Wrap it, let her open it, and then give her the box to play with :)
If you want a toy, for a 10-month old I like toys that they can pull up on. Google "stand and play table" for examples.
I saved some of our baby toys, and for Xmas, I'm having people wrap the toys for gifts, but I'd like to buy a few new things for baby. I had to throw out the old baby stroller, so I'll pick one of those up, but I'm not sure what else to buy. She doesn't need clothes...any great new baby toys that have come out in the last few years? My baby will be 10 months at Xmas time.....
I just need a few things under the tree from "Santa." I'm going to put money in the college fund but the oldest already doubts Santa, so he will need to bring something sparkly and new :-)
I already have the books covered...I do think a big wheel thing with the handle would be great. We had one but it broke....great ideas ladies....I have a direct! I also have a nice wooden horse thing in the basement I forgot about.

Just please don't buy that baby any electronics! Some sort of stand and play table or something else that sparks the imagination would be great. It really doesn't matter 'cause as you know, baby won't know what's going on and won't remember this xmas in any case.
You might just want to save your money for the 1st birthday party that's right around the corner!
Honestly, take any money you would spend on her this year and put it aside for future years, when she'll love and enjoy and appreciate Christmas. Or, donate those funds to children in the Philippines, or in the Midwestern towns that have been devastated by storms. Babies don't have a spec of materialism, or desire for stuff, in them. Enjoy it while it lasts.
-Walker thing (for right before she walks so she can push her way
around the room with her feet)
-things to hang from her car seat handle to keep her busy
-soft building blocks
My son was around that age. I got him some blocks and books. A ride on toy (the kind they just push around, not pedal) would be nice. Or one of those things to help them walk or a "corn popper". There is a little rocking horse that also turns into a rolling pony that looks fun. My inlaws got my daughter a smallish rocking one, but I wish they had gotten the one that rolls, too.
OH! There is a BIg WHeel type toy that is a rocker toy, then is a big wheel with a handle for the parent to push and foot rests, then it is a mini BIg Wheel (for before they can reach the pedals on the big one). My son got that for his first birthday and we LOVED it! It lasted through so many phases.
When my youngest was a baby I bought things similar to your previous responses-books, the step two push buggy, stacking toys. I also tried to find things that she could enjoy with the older siblings. I know someone said no electronics, but I bought mine a fisher price kid tough mp3-with a microphone. It wasn't something we brought out often, but she loved to "sing" in the microphone with her brother. I just downloaded a cd of nursery rhymes and she loved that all through her toddler years. She's five now and still loves it every time I "find" it (if you don't rotate toys-consider it. They don't miss em when they're gone but it's like Christmas all over again when the come back out).
We bought a seat similar to this for our youngest for his first Christmas (he was 7 months old) and we all loved it!

When our son was born we came home from the hospital and my work friends sent a flower arrangement - it came in a mini wagon with a Ty Pillow Pal leopard (we call him Spot but his official name is Speckles).
Spot was a constant companion!
It's soft, washable - he refuse to put it down!
We have pictures of him at 3 yrs old riding his springy horse while holding Spot by the tail in his mouth.

We love Ty Pillow Pals!
They're really not going to be interested at all in what's in the box. They'll be interested in the paper and the boxes...lol.
Don't worry about it. They'll be happy with anything they get.
For the oldest, how about an easel? We bought my son one when he was very young and now at 12, he still writes on it.. although it's no longer the ABCs , instead he enjoys writing out maps and locations.. it's been the best and most used gift if any...
A nice quality stuffed animal.
Some classic children's books (Eric Carle or Jim Archambault books, classic Golden Books, nursery rhyme book. I still have the nursery rhyme book that I got my first Christmas, and the nursery rhyme book my mom got when she was a baby.)
A nice quality blanket/quilt that will go beyond the baby years.
Blocks
A fun bath toy
I spent the first few years buying lots of books.
Books are one of the few things a kid can never have too many of!
A personalized or collectible Christmas tree ornament.
When our kids were younger we would get them new sippy cups and a couple new little toys (once they got bigger). I would take money I would of spent on Christmas presents and get them summer clothes as soon as the summer stuff started coming out.
In those early years we've bought special personalized things that are more decoration for their room.
