Hi mama's I do not know what to do for my little girls 1st birthday. It's in Dec. We have just a few little baby friends. I am involved in kindermusik & little gym and don't know if I should try to have a party using one of those or what?? I want to do a little 45 mins. thing nothing real elaborate but something to invite her little friends/ my friends to. I would rather not have it at my house b/c I want the babies to have something to entertain them. Any suggestions would be great if you have used kindermusik or little gym let me know what you thought. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

What can I do next?

My son and I invited his three or four friends from daycare and their moms over for coffee, koolaid, and cake. It was fun. I have pictures of him demolishing cake and opening presents.

We're also approaching my son's 1st BD, but he's my 3rd, so I've lived and learned a bit. For my first child's 1st BD, we had a HUGE party with all her little Gymboree friends. HUGE waste of money! I've come to realize that she, along with all the other babies, were all too young to enjoy any of that. This time around, we're going to have a few family members and close friends to the house for some cake and snacks to celebrate in a low key way. How I WISH I had just saved all that money from my first born's parties and put it into a college fund! Main thing is- love him, celebrate him, and make him feel special. I'm sure you're already great at that... good luck, and Happy Birthday Baby!

We had my daughter's first birthday at our house. I know you may not think it would be that fun for the kids, but they will never remember. The first birthday is more for the parents and adults. The highlight of the party is the Birthday girl completely destroying the birthday cake. It is so nice to let them have at it and then take them directly to the bathroom to clean em' up.

i'm all about simple parties, atleast until they get old enough to have opinions. this year will be the first year that we invite playmates to my youngest's bday party, turning 5. before then close family and friends only. even at that it will likely be an at home party and they will have more fun than at Chu. e. chee. or pump it up! i'm simply not spending $400 or more on 2 hours of his life. especially when that's the kid part and we still will do dinner out with family. some people in his class go waaaaaayyyyy over the top for parties, but the most fun ones are the simple ones.

I wouldn't worry about inviting a bunch of people or small children. I would just have something at your house or maybe out to dinner with the few of your friends and family you would want to invite. For my son's first birthday we just invited family and our closest friends and he was overwhelmed with people and presents.
