I had a baby in December and nursed until almost two months ago when I dried up. At what point does your period start back up I don't remember from the first time around.
Thanks everyone! I'll just wait it out...not that I'm completely stoked to get it back when it does finally arrive LOL. Don't think I'm pregnant as we've been careful and there aren't any other symptoms, but I know it's always a possibility even when nursing.
Totally depends. I had mine first month after birth (exclusively breastfeeding, that kinda runs in my family)... other women take 6mo after they finish nursing... which can be years out from birth.
It's different for everybody. While nursing my twins it returned when they were 10 months old. A girlfriend of mine always got her back within days of weaning.
Got mine back at 7 months. I nursed for 11 months.
I got mine exactly 28 days after the last time I breastfed and I breastfed for just shy of 13 months
First baby I never got my period, but became prego again when she was 6 months old.
Second baby I nursed for 8 months before she just refused to feed... it took about 6 months for it to return after that.

I was not one of the "lucky ones" ...I exclusively breasted all 3 of my kids and got my period at 6-7 weeks after delivery with each one!!!
It varies with everyone. Breast feeding should not be considered effective contraception, so if you are not using another method- pregnancy is always possible (even without your period returning)
My baby is 11 months, still nursing, and I got my period back 3 months ago (boo!). It's different for everyone.
I know this is late and I read your "so what happened", but let me tell you my story...I quit nursing my first when we bought our first house. She was two months old and it was hard to fix up the house and nurse. I figured six months was good. Two months later I had not started my period. Okay, no biggie, didn't want one anyway and figured I wasn't ovulating like before. Talked to a friend a few weeks later and she was shocked I had not started. She started within two weeks after BF both of hers. She told me to get a pregnancy test if I had not started by the end of the week. I was thinking that there was no way in hades was I prego, but hey just to say I took the test and it was negative would prove I really wasn't. Well I was wrong! The test came out positive. My hubby wanted to to see the doc to get a blood test done. It came back positive. Wonderful, we thought, with sarcasm. A week later went in for the ultrasound...I was 11 weeks pregnant. I had no signs or symptoms. Nothing! With our first I had real bad morning sickness and all kinds of smells made me nauseous. Didn't have anything like that. We were completely shocked.
So with that said, please just buy a pregnancy test just to see. I would hate for you to take some sort of medicine that could affect a baby if you didn't know you were prego. I do hope this helps some. Good luck and God Bless.
Mine started about two months after I completely stopped.
First baby: nursed for 13 months and got my period back about 2.5 months after stopping.
Second baby: nursed for two years...never got a period and got pregnant about 23 months into nursing.
Third baby: still nursing at 10 months and no period yet.
It really is different for everyone and even different for different babies....
I got mine WHILE I was nursing, about 3 months after delivery.
My cousin never nursed, and didn't get her period back until her baby was 9 months old.
