This must be just the mom in M. worrying. But I really need to hear from you if it's ok or if I need to do something about it. My preemie baby is now 3 months old. He doesn't hold up his head yet and one of our friends forgot to support his head while holding him. My baby put his head down immediately. He seems totally fine. But I want to know if it's ok if this happens or do I need to let the doctor know about it ....:( thanks!

What can I do next?

Are you concerned about the not holding his head up yet , or that he put his head back down? Either way I think it is fine , you have to allow for the fact that he was early , my 3rd child was 6 wks early and she was around 8 wks behind on developmental milestones. If you really are worried then there is no harm in checking with your doctor , but if he is happy in himself and doesn't seem in any obvious pain or discomfort then all should be fine.

when you say put his head down immediatly do you mean his head fell back or towards the chest? If he isn't crying and breathing normally I'd say you have nothing to worry about. It's a little scarey when they are so small but babies are stronger then we think.

I'm confused with the others, but I have a friend who has a premie and his adjusted age is the same age as my son and they are developmentally the same. You should account that he is probably just at the newborn stage in life (since i don't know his age, I'm guessing he is 3 months adjusted age) No worries, call your doctor if you are still worried when you read our posts.

My twins (boy/girl) were born at 7 months and it took them a looong while to hold their heads up. Don't worry! They are actually flexible right now. While holding my daughter at 4 moths, I fell asleep and when I woke up I heard her crying! I had dropped her, she was face down on the carpet!! I totally freaked out. When I picked her up, I held her and she stopped crying and I checked her and was fine. It scared M. to the bones!!!!! Now she's a 21 month old very healthy and happy girl.
