I personally did not like the one I did "Super Suppers". It really only included the meat of the meal, so you still had to provide the two sides. Most of the meat preparation was just marinade which I can do pretty quickly. I ended up cooking and still having to cook 2 sides. Just did not think worth the money.

I have tried two... Dream Dinners and Super Suppers. I have been to Dream Dinners twice and enjoyed it each time. They have great flavor, and it's healthy. Super Suppers I tried once and will not go back. There were a large percentage of the dinners that I did not like at all. HTH!

I have used Super Suppers on Cedar Bluff. I call in my order, they have it ready after work and the world is a better place. During sport seasons it is the only way we survive. Or at least it keeps us out of the drive thru lines more!

There has only been one thing we bought that my family didn't care for the taste. That was a taste issue and had nothing to do with Super Suppers!

Good luck, T.

The two local places we have are Super Suppers and the Home Plate. I used Super Suppers regularly where we were able to split the portions(and cost) with another couple. The other couple had to stop, so we quit too. I have used Home Plate just once. Both places I paid extra to get the meals prepared by them and picked up.

These were the main differences I noticed between the two. Home Plate offered Weight Watcher informaiton on their menu items, SS had the calorie/fat info so you could figure it out too. HP was a little pricer (side items were always included), they had different portion sizes(HP-4/8, SS-3/6) and seemed to be a a tad higher quality - BUT their meals were MUCH more involved when you went to cook them. HP's meals were ranked on the amount of additional at-home preparation (making a separate sauce, browning the meat first, sauteeing veggies separate etc...) Most of Super Suppers meals were something you could pop into the oven as-is or cook in one pot on the stove. SS was also setup in a way that you could easily split with another family. They took each payment separately and would prepare the orders accordingly for pickup.

Overall, tastewise we were pretty happy with both. You have to keep it in perspective... These are meals that you will make on a week night in a pinch - some are going to be really good, some just okay and some you will eat, but wouldn't choose again. Hope this helps.

I have never tried one, but did do research on the prices of some of the meals that you could assemble, and they were VERY pricey!!! Also, some of the dishes were things that my husband and daughter would not be crazy about. I don't know if this helps you or not, but I thought I would tell you what (is very little) I know about those type of places.

I am actually on my way to Dream Dinners today! I love it! The owners are helpful and wondrful people. I usually go once a month and make about 8 entrees. It has really helped us vary our weekly menu and my kids have had to try new things (which they are not always happy about). My husband has liked everything but one entree so far and I have been going since November. It has helped with our grocery/credit card bills since we hardly ever go out to eat or hit the drive thru anymore. There is always a meal in the freezer, so it takes the worries away when the family asks "what's for dinner?"
Go to the website and check out the menu. Dream Dinners also supplies your supplies like cooking pans, bags, etc. I have heard the other place, Entree Vous, does not do this, but I have never been there. Check it out!

I tried one right after my daughter was born. Someone gave us a session as a gift. It was one of the best gifts we got. I went by myself to prepare the meals, which was a nice break. It was fun, easy, and the meals were delicious. People were there to help, but the recipes for prep were posted. You were able to make a complete portion or a half portion for smaller families. It was nice to have that option. Since there was only two of us eating, we usally still had leftovers. We went to a tasting before scheduling our session to see what we like and what we didn't like. That was a big help because we knew exactly what the food was going to taste like. I had a great experience. You should try it out!

Hi D.,
I don't know where in Raleigh you are located but there is a place in Brier Creek called Supper Thyme, USA that is pretty nice. Check out their website at: http://www.supperthymeusa.com/calendar.jsp
They have fitness meals and even have some whole wheat options.

My friend and I go to Super Suppers once a month, and we each prepare six entrees. The food is of good quality, you can pick and choose your entrees, and they even give you nutritional facts for each entree. Going with a friend makes it fun, and knowing that there is always something in the freezer eases my mind quite a bit.

im not sure ware you are located, but i have been going to a place called Entee vous for about two years now. i go once a month and make six of their meals, which i split into 12 dinners for my family of four. the food is fresh and the nutrition info is available on the website for all of the meals, so that i can make healthy choices for my family. i have tried Susan's kitchen twice and was disappointed. the food was flavorless and all very high fat. for the calories in the food, it should have been amazing.

I've been using Dream Dinners and really like it. The meals are healthly, average out between $3.50-$4.25 ish per person, and are easy to prepare at home. They have a service, which I think is $10 extra where they will pre-prepare the meals for you and you just have to swing by and pick them up. The only one complaint I have is that sometimes the meals can be a little salty. I've mentioned it to them, and they said they are trying to find low sodium products (like cream of mushroon soup, chicken broth, etc.), but upon request have even more.

I don't know about those, but I do know that Homemade Gourmet representatives are doing things where they make meals for you. We haven't had them make the meals for us, but our meals have been made easier because of HG. I would need to look up contact information for my representative, but I will try to do that and post here (or you can email me) later if you're interested.

we have a place called Super Suppers and I really like it.....it's more expensive than me doing it all myself, but cheaper than eating out.....I have only bought their preassembled meals but they have all been very good. At the end of the month they have a sale on those items left in their freezer of preassembled and those are cheaper than assembling it there. Each month they change their menus. It's worth giving a try.

I have tried a few and have had good and bad experiences. It's more about the actual meal than the place for my family. I have found that if it is something my hubby and I like I get a small portion and the kids have nuggets and pasta and can "try" our dinners.

I have not assembled the meals myself-- I am just too busy. But, ask the pricing for assembly. I have found huge differences-- some only charge $2-$3 per entree to assemble it for you and others charge like $30. The fee is worth it to me. I like Mr. Food (Charlotte), My Girl Friend's Kitchen, and Dream Dinners-- but I haven't tried them all yet. I base my decision on the menu for the month, the cost to assemble and the convenience..

Good Luck!
