I know this concept has already started and implemented, but I would like to implement it in my approach. I have been a bilingual kindergarten teacher for 5 years, and prior to that an assistant to the same program for 8 years..let me know if any interested parties in language dev/acquisition(Spanish). Maybe...get a group together????

How to Teach Spanish to My Boys When I Don't Speak It!

I really want my 3 year old twins and my 6 year old to learn another language. Now is the time. I speak a little broken spanish from high school. I'd love for them to learn. I've started looking into spanish immersion preschools, dvd/cd programs. There's nothing like speaking the language though! I've thought about getting a spanish speaking babysitter a few times a week. I'm a SAHM so I'm on a budget. Before I commit to one or more of these ideas and go for it, I just want some advice on what would be the best direction to take. I'd be...

Raising a Child Bilingually

I am a native English speaker and so is my husband. I, however, am proficient in speaking Spanish and understand the importance of knowing more than one language. I would like my son to grow up bilingually. I am wondering how those of you who are raising bilingual children are doing it. I know that in some families, the mother will speak one language, and the father another, but I am the only one home all day with my son and fear that if I only speak Spanish, he will not learn English well. If I alternate the two languages throughout the...

Camping with Kids

most of my fondest memories as a child are when my family was camping. i loved going up in the mountains and just being free for a week. even the rainy days were fun! my mother doesnt really remember how early she took us, so im asking you now :) how old should children be for their first camping trip? my children (3 and 4) love being outside and i dont think there would be a problem there - but the whole sleeping (and staying!) in the tent at night, no real "bathing", different foods, and everything else that comes with camping...im not...

JFF-- What TV Shows Do You Watch?

So I was TOTALLY into the HBO series "Game of Thrones" and CANNOT WAIT until season 2 begins next year....in the mean time, I am looking for another show to get into. Other shows that I really loved are The Tudors, Big Love, and Spartacus (though I try to watch it on On Demand so I can fast forward through the gratuitous sex scenes) I don't need any more reality shows--I've got enough of a Bravo TV addiction already. I don't need any book suggestions--I just began reading "The Song of Ice and Fire" series (Bk 1 is Game of Thrones)...
