New Singulair Side Effects

Has anyone noticed subtle changes in their child while taking Singulair? My 11 year old has allergies and asthma and has been on Singulair (and other meds) for a long time on and off. I notice distict changes in mood, behavior and sleeping habits while on Singulair. I brought it up to our pediatrician several years ago and he brushed it off as being perfectly safe. I even brought it up to my son's allergist more recently and she was puzzled. Said it must be something else. Imagine my surprise when I've been seeing the news articles on...

3 Year Old Sleep Habits

Ok, my oldest will be 3 next week and for the past few weeks she has not been sleeping thru the night AND getting up at 7-7:30am everyday! That may sound normal to most but for us it is not. My kids are night owls. They go to bed by 10pm and sleep til 9am, at least my 17mo old still does. I am 4 mo pg with my third and I really need my rest. I still get up and go to the gym in t he mornings but with so much interrupted sleep that is killing me! She won't even take a nap! Is this normal, I mean I understand we all go thru sleep cycles but...

Your Opinions on Singulair

I have a 5 yr old daughter who gets a wicked cough a few times a year. This past trip to the ped he suggested we start her on 4 mg of Singulair. My husband is asthmatic and the ped feels that there is a possibility that she may be diagnosed later in life with asthma. She is considered at risk because she has had upper respiratory issues a few times this past winter. My question is that I've heard both good and bad about this medication and I am just concerned. Most of the issues involve behavioral outbursts and children becoming more...

Soothing a Cough

My daughters have had several colds this winter, but their latest one is lingering in the form of a nasty cough. My elder daughter is almost 3 and she will cough so hard that she gags. This is making her very cranky during the day and wakes her up three or four times a night. I am just wondering if anyone has suggestions for soothing her cough.

Toddler Night Terrors

Has anyone had a toddler who had night terrors? These are different than nightmares, the child wakes up about an hour or so into sleep and basically is inconsolable for about 10 minutes. They are not scared or upset about anything in particular, and it stops as suddenly as it starts. My daughter (2.5 years old) has developed these. Every 2 weeks or so, she's been waking up in a cold sweat and wailing and thrashing around like she's having a tantrum. Nothing I've done seems to help. Our doctor says to carefully console as best we can -...
