This has never happened before and i know the size is fine. He is only 18 months and hes on a size 5 (and has been for quite some time). i'm not whether its because he is peeing more during the night but the entire front side of his pyjamas are wet by time he wakes up at 7 am. (He goes to bed at 9) and his last diaper change is at approximately 8:30-8:45.
Does anybody know why this may be happening? Cause i am bummed.
Thanks for the wonderful responses. I have ordered the huggies overnites through amazon and have also ordered the kushies diaper cover. But until they arrive i know there will be messes. Its amazing how its happening EVERY NIGHT for the last three nights and never happened before that. He is 26 pounds and hes wearing the baby dry size 5 so i really dont think its a size issue. Lets hope these remedies work. WIll post what happened. Thanks again!
Had the same problem out of no where at around the same age. The diapers we had been using forever just started leaking. We ended up changing brands and that solved the problem. We just changed brands not the size. Good Luck.
So sorry! This has happened to my son as well a few nights in a row. Sometimes, I think it might just be the position they sleep in if you think the diaper size is not the issue. I know a few times it's happened, I've changed his diaper size and that's done the trick. Good luck!
i would try a size bigger just in case, you never know that isnt the problem until you test it.
or do a different brand.
for my boys huggies sucked. so we always went with pampers, but for my girls any good quality diaper was fine
i had a lot of friends who swear by the costco kirkland diapers. i think they are the same as huggies. lol.
Some kids pee more at night than others. I know someone who went up a size just for nighttime (stayed in a 5 during the day) and that helped. Also they used Huggies overnights which you are going to try now. I have found that the Sams brand diapers absorb more than Huggies or Pampers for my son, but others have used them also and still needed a bigger diaper for nighttime. Good luck! My son leaked through diapers for a little bit right around that age too. I bought a package of overnight diapers and those were fine. Now he's back to his normal diapers at night.
Also make sure he is pointed down at his last diaper change and the top of the diaper is snug. Little boys have a tendency to peek out and pee all over everything :) I also like to get snug pajama bottoms so it's harder for my son to readjust everything after I've put him to bed.
We have the same issue.
I switched to extra protection night time diapers by pampers. They are suppose to hold up to 12 hours.
They have not leaked yet.
When my son was wet overnight we always went up to the next size and it always worked. He didn't necessarily need a bigger size, but he needed more diaper to absorb the moisture.
try Huggies night time ones for a while
He is peeing more at night then if you are SURE it is not the diaper's fit ... one thing we did when this started to happen and we concluded that the diaper was still the correct size was tried the Huggies Overnites, they were good on the overnight front except they were too papery feeling and my son worked really hard to remove them, he liked his pampers better. Then, and daddy was not fond of this but it worked we added a hospital sized femal pad to the diaper ... problem solved! And in all honesty, it was a Mamapedia mom some 2 years ago that suggested that to me!
it seems like the band on the pants/shorts cause the diaper to be pinched and cause overflow. my son went through a period of time where he leaked through. eventually we figured out not to give him milk right before bed time. but about an hour to thirty mins before. and also just a tshirt or footie pj's

I LOVE Huggies overnights. Get them from Target and if they don't work for you after you use a few, return them. My son is 2 and has been in these every night since he 10 mo old!
PS, these also work great for long plane/car trips where only pee is expected.
My son was a heavy wetter around that age and it always seems worse in the summer due to more popsicles and water and such. There are inserts (like pads) for heavier times and there are also nighttime diapers with the same effect. That helped us. We did not limit fluids as he is obviously drinking for a reason
You may want to check which way he is pointing at night. My son started pointing up and peeing out of the top of his diaper. Once I figured this out I would tuck him to point down and the that fixed the problem.

might be that he is drinking too much before bed. Try not to give him ANY liquid an hour before bed time, and if he does not go straight to bed after bath, change him before putting him to bed. Night time diapers by Pampers or baby dry diapers by pampers works great. Even cruisers I find keeps them dry even with a bulging wet diaper - no leaks. Then change him first thing in the morning as he wakes.
You will soon see he will have less and less bulging, leaky diapers if you withheld liquids an hour before bed.

My little guy did the exact thing at 18 months! Try folding the top of the diaper down about a 1/2", front and back, before fastening as tightly as you can with him remaining comfortable, and pulling out the elastic around his legs so the diaper is fully opened. Also, if you're not already using an "overnight" type diaper at night start doing so, this worked instantly for us.
If it continues I would guess that his little wee wee is pointing out the top of the diaper and when he pees it naturally ends up on the front of him, so make sure it's pointed down before you fasten his diaper.
Try a bigger diaper, or a different brand, or a diaper insert (they sell them at Babies R Us). If you are not using an overnight, try that instead. Usually when my DD peed through her diaper she needed a different size.
