Hello moms. I am 38 weeks and yesterday I woke up with a headache...not HORRIBLE headache like one of those annoying sinus headeaches. I didn't take anyting sinc Tylonal NEVER helps. But at the end of the night I went to lay down and took one tylonal to try and get rid of it. I went to bed. Still have the headache this morning a bit light headed too. My question is what does a preclamcia headache feel like? I heard they are the worst pain ever, this is not its more of an annoyance however I have made myself paranoid. I go to the doc every week and everythging has been 100% ok. Could this just a pregnancy headache ya think? Obviously I'll call my doc if I am too concerned about it, just looking to see what you all think. Plus I go to the doc Monday morning.

One more thing. I am super stressed and a Crazy worring mess as my son starts Kindergarten on Monday and today we meet his teacher and stuff and I have no idea when this baby will decided to come and issues with inlaws and coming to visit, so im pretty stressed out too. Im sure thats not helping.

What can I do next?

I had preecclampsia and I never even got a headache, so that tells you that you just never know what is going to happen, everyone is so different! Now, hopefully you have plenty of supportive people around you to where you can try to RELAX whenever possible at this point because you are almost there! Do you have a blood pressure machine? High BP can come on without notice! But honestly...if you have made it this far you probably don't have it, but it would not hurt to get your BP taken. If it is a little high, watch your sodium. One day while pregnant I ate a ham and cheese sandwich and that was enough to send my BP soaring. You wouldn't believe the sodium in this particular combination! UGH...I never looked at salt much before but it wouldn't hurt you to take a look at these things. Stay hydrated too. What an exciting time for ya'll.. your son starting K and the new baby arriving! Congrats in advance, big changes ahead! Good luck to you, I am sure you'll do fine.

It is probably stress but can you check your BP anyway? Try Asprin-Free Excedrin (regular Excedrin works too but you shouldn't take it when pregnant due to aspirin content).

Call your OB. This late in the pregnacy he/she needs to be your first call for so many things.

I usually get headaches when I haven't been drinking enough water. Could that be the case? Also, stress headaches are for real, and I was pretty stressed out last year when my oldest started full-time PreK. He starts kindergarten on Tuesday, so that's not stressing me as much, but little brother starts half-day PreK on Thursday. I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping :-)

Try not to worry too much, but drink lots of water and do call your OB.

I second the thought that the headache may also be tied into dehydration.

My daughter was getting some really horrible headaches early on in her pregnancy, and it ended up being that she wasn't drinking enough water.

I would call your doctor, though.... especially since it is Friday. You don't want it to go too far.

You need to call your doctor right away.

Any headache during pregnancy should be checked out.

Better to err on the side of caution.

Don't delay. Call today. Right now. Let us know how you are later.

Not to scare you but people have brain aneurysms while pregnant due to the extra blood volume. You don't want to take any chances. It will probably be nothing but your dr can tell you that.

Please call.

Any headache in pregnancy is worth checking out. Blood pressure can spike suddenly, so even if it was fine at your last appt I would still want to have it checked again. You could even start at one of those BP machines they often have at walgreens and such. They may not be the most accurate but it would give you a general idea. If it says it is normal you are probably just stressed, if it says it is higher than normal you may still just be stressed but it would warrant further investigation. The good news is you are 38 weeks so if your bp is high delivery would be safe at this point. Best of luck with everything!

Call your Dr. I was seen every week for high blood pressure and he told me that if I ever get a headache for more than a couple hours to come in to be checked out. With the light headedness I would definitely call them.

Call your doc. I got a bad one while 34 weeks with #3 and ended up vomiting and dehydrated and had to go to L&D at the hospital and get an IV. It wasn't fun but it was ok in the end. I would call your OB.
