My 4 yr old boy has told me today his tummy hurts. He is a preemie with speech issue so getting that much out of him is good. We had one runny poo and he is eating fine and drinking ok. What can I give him to help and stop the runny poo if it happens again and I'm sure it will.
i would call the pediatrician just because he is a preemie and i would also call to see if pepto is ok to give he may be too small. it might be a virus and he may have loos poop for a couple days i would monitor him and make sure he eats do a brat diet bannana, rice, apple sauce and toast till it hardens up.
Have you heard of the BRAT diet- bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast? It's really mild and usually will stop it. Keep him hydrated and check for a fever if you think it's caused by a virus.
If this only happened once, it's not a big deal. Usually with diarhea, it's best to give bland things for 24 hours at least. Things like dry toast, banana is constipating and so is cheese, water. Food usually gives a tummy with this issue more trouble. It might need a little rest from regular food. As always with diarhea, you need to keep fluids going so he doesn't get dehydrated Give him some pedialite for that. No worries, this happens sometimes.
