My 6 month old gets about 25oz per day of breastmilk. If they are on formula, I think its about 24-32oz per day. I would think to aim on the high side if your doctor thinks she needs to gain more.

I hope you mean breastmilk and not regular cow's milk???

For the 1st year of life, you need to nurse ON-demand... whenever baby is hungry. 6 months is also a growth-spurt time, and they need to feed more. Thus, do not feed according to a 'schedule' if that is what you are doing.
Babies fed on a 'schedule' often do not thrive... appropriately, because they do not get the proper intake they need and during growth-spurts.
Feed baby on-demand, 24/7, day and night.

Typically, at that age, a baby can drink 6 ounces or more, per session.

Are you nursing or giving bottles of Formula or breastmilk?

I breastfed, and my kids at that age, nursed on-demand, every 3 hours or less, day and night. I nursed them, whenever they were hungry. Even if they were on solids.

As a side note: if you concentrate on feeding solids, instead of nursing... then your milk supply will lessen. If you are breastfeeding.
Or, if you are not producing enough milk... then, baby will not be getting adequate intake either.. .and that can sometimes affect their lack of weight gain. That happened to several friends of mine.

all the best,
Susan

My son is now almost one year old but when he was 6 months, I think he drank about 24 go 26 oz. formula (he can only drink about 4 oz. at each feeding so I was literally feeding him 24/7. He also started rice cereal at 6 months and shortly thereafter baby food as well.

Hi Kika
Sorry I cant remember the ammount at that age ,but I think at 6mths she should be ready for solids to be introduced.
I got a meal planner book which guides you through the first few weeks of eating solids.
Once she starts eating the weight will pile on,
Best of luck
