I am a fan of Nail Bar in Evanston (there are also locations in Chicago and up north, too, I think). The manicures are $17 and the pedicures are $35. I feel like it's really clean and professional.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of a good nail salon in the area. I have had bad luck with the few I have been too. Thank you!

I don't know where you live but I love Sea Nails on Touhy & Prospect in Park Ridge. They have mani/pedi's for $28 everyday. Don't let the low price fool you though. The place is super clean and nicely decorated. They are very concerned with sanitation. You see them take out the equipment from sterilization machines. They use a hot towel on your hands during your manicure(like at Japanese restaurants). If they are not busy, they will massage your back with a massager while your nails dry. They have lots of services there including massage and waxing.
OnStage in Glenview is fabulous! ###-###-#### Ask for Lisa B
If you live in downtown Chicago, Nail Station in Olgilvie Transportation Center (Citibank Building) is GREAT!!!! I work downtown and go there every two weeks on my way home from work.
If you live in Lakeview, Digits is wonderful!
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!
If you are willing to drive a little, Paint is wonderful. It's on diversey and sheffield. $40 for mani and pedi, $35 on MOn-Wed.
I can't find anyplace in Oak Park that even comes close to the price or service. I did have a manicure done at Spa Constantine once and it wasn't bad.
Which area are you talking about? If you want something pretty close to downtown/streeterville/gold coast, check out 10 Perfect Nails:

They're very good and can almost always work you in. Regular manicurs, sets and fills. Wonderful pedicures. They're running a special on their spa pedis at the moment, $35 instead of $45.
Hope that helps.
