Age-Defying products...What REALLY Works and What's Not $$$?

I'm turning 35 in a couple months. My head is spinning over the hundreds of facial moisturizers and creams offered to us to smooth out the crows feet, etc. I would like to try a few of them, but money is tight since we are a one-income family.

My target areas are: the eyes (crows feet, puffiness), facial wash, moisturizer, and the little creases around my lips that are starting to form.

I want to know what brands REALLY work but won't break my wallet. I just can't see myself spending money I don't have trying new products every month to see what works and what doesn't work. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Tammy!
Congrats on wanting to learn how to take care of your skin. May I please advise you that many products out there are a waste of money because they use cheap ingredients and mineral oil. Mineral oil is occlusive! It's a by product of petroleum and will inhibit the good ingredients (if there are any) in a product that you buy. It is VERY important on what you use on your skin as it is your largest organ and absorbs everything that the product is made out of, including chemicals, dyes, fragrances, etc. If a product cannot be used during pregnancy, that is a red flag that it contains harmful ingredients!

I have been using Arbonne's pure, safe and botanically based products for many years and know it works. It is one of the best products on the market and has a money back guarantee so you can't lose! It is fortified with 9 essential skin rejuvinating and repairing vitamins plus has an extensive line of anti-aging products from head to toe! The eye cream is the number one best selling product because it works to reduce dark circles, puffiness and fine lines - all in one product that lasts 5-6 months!! It's super concentrated and that's where the "value" comes in.

It truly is "buyer beware" when it comes to personal care products. The FDA does NOT regulate our products here in the US, so manufacturers can pretty much put in whatever they want. Arbonne is based in Switzerland and the Europeans have much higher standards than they do here in the US. I am a health and wellness consultant and teach people how to use healthy and safe products, and how to get them for the best pricing.

I would be most happy to forward you information about this line of product that is technologically superior and works!! Money back guarantee! It truly is about a system to wash, tone and hydrate. BUT, not with just any product. You may actually be doing yourself an injustice with many of the OTC products that are out there and the dollar stores are not where you want to purchase anything.

Yours in health,

K.

I am almost fifty one and do not have any lines (seriously) I believe because I used MaryKay skin care for many years. I do jump around occasionally, oil of olay is nice, too and right in the stores so you can catch them on sale, although once in awhile there is a MaryKay person who works things out for you. The key is actually using anything. That is where I think people trip up. Kind of like exercise. once you stop, your body doesn't stay the same. There are even a lot of moisturizers in the Dollar Stores. You can alternate those until you have money to buy something more expensive.

Hi Tammy!
Skin care products can be very helpful but I think it's even more important to have a healthy diet and lifestyle. If you are healthy on the inside it will show on the outside.

Sugar is one of the worst things for skin and definitely contributes to wrinkles. Avoid white sugar and white flour as much as possible. Make sure you wear some sort of SPF every day to avoid damage from the sun. Eat fresh veggies, fruit, and I think that the good fats (like omega-3s) are especially helpful. Excersize helps blood flow and gives your skin a healthy glow. Good luck!

I'm a skin care junky and have done a lot of exploration into this area. What I've found through talking to women who are older than me with really nice skin is the following. 1. cleanse morning and night...the type of cleanser is not that important and a good drug store brand should do. 2. Moisturize daily with a day cream with an SPF of 15+..clinique I believe makes a good one. I use oil of olay and am happy with it. 3. Eye cream...I agree that I do like my Mary Kay eye cream..others I like are ROC, Arbonne Eye Cream, Clinique eye repairwear. They are all good, just depends on how much you want to spend. I also use a serum with hylauronic acid in it prior to my eye cream. Hylauronic acid is super hydrating. I use one by a brand called 'glycolix' you can find it on line or a derms office(only $25) 3.After you wash at night, apply a retinol cream. You can either get a prescription for Retin A from you doc or use one of the many over the counter products with Retinols in it. Retinols are not as intense as prescription strength...but do the trick. I LOVE neutrogena healthy skin...it is the best!! Only $20 or so. I cannot use it now because I am pregnant(no retinols during pregnancy!) but will go back to it when I can. Lastly, the other hot topic now is antioxidants...the best ones are Idebenone(found in Tru, Prevage) or Coffeberry(Priori) very, very expensive...but the claims are good. I've tried Idebenone because I got a free sample from the guy you runs the company, but I can't say for sure if it works.

Okay, that is alot! I would definitely go with a retinol cream/prescription though...worth it!
