I really want to plan an all inclusive trip sometime in November for my husband and I. We've had a rough year and I really think getting away and reconnecting would be great. Somewhere warm and an all inclusive place that isn't Too expensive would be great.

We went to Punta Cana, DR as well and stayed at Dreams. Very nice! We have also been to Porta Plata, DR. The Dominican is a great choice because there are several resorts and would fit just about any budget. Enjoy!

It might be wise to actually go to a travel agent who deals with all-inclusives so you understand what is available. Then if you like this type of vacation, you can book it yourself next time. If you are into cruises, try cruisecritic.com for info and the lowdown on every cruise/ship. Have a great time.

I would urge you to choose somewhere other than Mexico. Mexico is so dangerous right now. There are other beautiful warm places to go to so why risk it?

Just my 2 cents :)

Have a wonderful vacation wherever you decide to go!!!!!!!

An alternative to Mexico that is pretty reasonable is Punta Cana. We have been there two times. The last time we went we booked through cheapcarribean.com and we were very satisfied with their service. The rep we booked with was very informative and we had no issues with our payments/flights, transfers etc. If you would rather go through a travel agent and would like any recommendations- I would recommend Mary Johnson at Gary Wheaton Travel-phone # ###-###-####. I have known her for a very long time and she is not only a good travel agent but has gone on many trips herself so she has a lot of personal knowledge she can share too. Good Luck and hope you enjoy your trip wherever you go!

Cruises are very inexpensive. We went to Cozumel and Grand Cayman for $349 per person. Our kids were with us, they were $99 each. A 5 night cruise, that included all meals. We flew to Tampa for $118 each.(Got tickets 3 months ahead) You can't beat that considering the gas it would take you to drive it. It was one of the best vacations I've ever been on.

I agree with S. on the Dominican Rep. I went to a Riu in Punta Cana a few years back and it was phenominal. I have been to Hawaii and while that was an experience of a lifetime I feel that Dominican Rep was like no other and the price was very reasonable
Good Luck

My friend did an all-inclusive in St. Lucia and loved it, and although I don't know how much it costs, I know her and how frugal she is, so it couldn't have been that much. I would check out all of the Carribean islands. I remember when I looked into Sandals or Beaches (whichever one is adult only) it wasn't that expensive. Just be careful when looking into these resorts. I was trying to find one that didn't have kids and got routed online to some swinger resorts. I ended up at Moon Palace in Cancun because my husband won it through work so it was paid for, but there were kids there and I really didn't notice and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. What was worse is that most of these countries and resorts the drinking age is 18, so I had more problems with the 18-24 year olds than the kids.

Puerto Vallarta is great! We've been going every other year or so for over a decade. Two years ago, it was about $695 a person including round trip air to LA. 5 days, 6 nights (it might have even been 6 days, 7 nights). Too much fun and very relaxing!!

Hi J., a few years ago we went to Cabo San Lucas and stayed at an RIU all inclusive. It was awesome. I know they tend to be a little more expensive than the others, but there are quite a few there. I've been looking into going to Cancun this year as well. Check out Cheapcarribean.com. They seem to have the cheapest deals so far.

Good luck!

Punta Cana in the DR is pretty awesome. Pure white sand beaches and beautiful surroundings. It's a good price for AI without going to Cancun.

You could always look for a cruise to nowhere, you don't leave the ship so there are no extra hidden fees. You just get to do everything on the ship such as various restaurants, pools, clubs, shows, activities, etc...just be fully aware of the amenities and if they are included. Things like the beauty shop and the spa are not usually included in the all inclusive but they may be having a special.

If you think about the cost of going somewhere for several days. You have to pay to get there, plane, train, or automobile. Then you have to pay for food, 3 meals and 3-4 snacks per day. Plus lodging. Then any activities you do while there.

Often the food on a cruise is lobster, steak, super salad bars with everything imaginable, exotic foods, new and wonderful things to try. Who can afford to pay for lobster every day for 2 people for 1 or more meals...it's cost effective.

The room is usually nice too. If you get in the middle of the ship, even below the main deck, there is much more chance of getting the room for a steal.

You can always budget for shore trips too. If you have savings or other ways of handling that there are several shorter trips that only stop at a couple of places and they are not that expensive.

Here is a link to about 20 cruises, 3-6 nights, that go to the Bahamas that range from $184 per person up to just over $1000 per person, with most being just a couple hundred at most.

Here is a link for all the Caribbean, some are more expensive than others but some are as inexpensive as a couple hundred per person for 4 nights and visiting Key West and Cozumel.

If you look you can find some wonderful deals. If you have ready cash, free airplane miles, etc...you can get even better deals if you can drop everything and go when they call and have an abundance of rooms left unused. They sell the trip cheap but it's spur of the moment.

Happy travels.

We did Cancun a few years ago...however, I have had some friends go to Punta Canta in the Dominican Republic - as a family of 5 - and LOVE IT!!! yes, there are couples resorts and family resorts....

Dominican Republic or Cancun!!! November might be a little too cold for Bermuda - someplace I want to go - but it's off season....so you might look into that as well!!

HAVE FUN!!
