Am I Pathetic or What?

When we like something in this house we REALLY like something.

For my husband it's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

For me it's Rick Springfield. <<sigh>>

For my son it's "Cars."

I have been literally waiting for "Cars 2" to come out for a YEAR. I got excited when the first clips were released by Disney/Pixar and even set up a Google Alert for the movie. We can't wait for June 24th and I'm JUST AS EXCITED as our four year old son.

Does anyone else get wrapped up in their kids interests like this?

What can I do next?

For us it is Transformers Dark of the Moon. Our son CANNOT wait to see this- we will be going to the movies to see it and the Grandparents will be going too!
It used to be Toy Story- we went to see TS3 in the theatre- it was his first time going. He had a great time. He likes Cars and is excited for Cars 2, but he's really really really into Transformers.

You are NOT pathetic!! I love kids movies. One of the best things about being a parent is the excuse to get to watch them. I'm the one who got my daughter hooked on Transformers. And Harry Potter, that was my fault too. They are the only two this summer that are non negotiable will not miss movies for us. Not sure who got who into Pirates of the Caribbean. We both love anything Disney. We are both readers too and she also got me into The Hunger Games series and another called The Warriors, again Harry Potter books were my fault. I can go on and on. She's almost 15 so it's really awesome to be able to recommend books and movies to each other, and then have great conversations about them. It keeps the lines of communication open. Her big passion these days though is ice hockey, which I admit I have a hard time getting into. But I do try, and being from NH it's a BIG deal right now with the Bruins in the playoffs.

Yup!

In order of appearance:
Thomas The Tank Engine
Pokemon (Not very fun but we still joined in on the 'fun')
The Harry Potter Books (we read them aloud as a family and went to all the opening days when the movies came out)
Soccer
Star Wars
Indian Jones movies
All Mario Games
Risk
Poker
The SpiderMan Movie(s)
Thomas The Tank Engine again (next set of boys came along)
Settlers of Katan
The Twilight Books & Movies
All Halo games
Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2
Army of Two (I admit this was my favorite first, then the boys joined me)
Little League Baseball (currently still going strong)
BayBlades (this one is not that fun but I still play and was way better than Pokemon :)
Ice Skating (My 5 y/o loves it and is begging to play Hockey)
Soccer (again)
Pretty Much start at the top of the list and start again, Star Wars, Indiana Jones :)

~Now it is kind of switching around that my older boys are older...my 16y/o is my 'Dexter' watching partner :)

My son, right now, is all into WWII aircraft. So yes, I now know what a P51 Mustang looks like, etc. He's also into flags from different countries. And baseball.
Before that it was Presidents, Nascar, Cars, Coins, Beyblades, Thomas the Tank Engine!
The phases come and go, but when they come--they are quite all consuming.
He's 8, but I'm DRAGGING him to Cars 2 because I just HAVE to see what it's about!

LOL!

I do! I love Thomas the Tank Engine! I get engrossed in those stories just as much as my kid does!

And, yes, even though I have not officially seen Cars (I hear it in the background when my son watches) I am pretty excited for Cars 2 also!

I can't WAIT for the new (and final!) Harry Potter movie to come out!!!
I started reading the books to my son when he was in second grade, I read the first three aloud to him, then we both read the rest, each on our own.
We have seen all the movies together, over the course of elementary, middle and high school.
He just graduated from high school and is going to college out of state in about ten weeks (yes I am counting the days!) so that makes this movie even more special and a little bittersweet :(
Oh, but I forgot add that my personal crazy passion is the music of U2 and Green Day!

Yup. Just wait until their older and you're warming the bleachers several days a week and most weekends for little league, soccer, gymnastics, swim team, etc. Our daughter was on dance guard in HS, and we spent all Fall in the stands at all-day competitions, watching the same routine over and over and over and ... And then we spent all Winter and Spring in different gyms watching the same routine over and over and over and ... except with earplugs (LoL -- it's much louder in the gym!)

My son and I shared an enthusiasm for video games, and we'd rush out to buy the next big game as soon as it became available. I think one of the joys of having children is getting to relive a little of the magic and joiue de vivre of your own childhood!

Yup. Tranformers-Dark of the Moon comes out in a few days & we've been waiting for almost a year. My son is also recently into the Star Wars movies. Everytime we go to the library we look for one & everytime we go to a store (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) we look for the set. My daughter is also just starting to get into the princess thing & she has to look everytime we go out. My husband is obsessed with collecting Hot Wheels. I, however, don't have my own obsession (unless it's fueling everyone else's) LOL
