My son's birthday is coming up soon about 5 weeks away from this Saturday. He told me wanted to have his birthday party at Amazing Jakes. I've never been there, and I checked out their website, www.amazingjakes.com. Quite impressive I must say. It's really pretty expensive especially if doing a party package. Basic party package is $9.99 per child, and the minimum is 8, but if an adult accompanies the child, it counts as an extra which is $7.99 or $8.99. My question is would it be appropriate for the adults to pay for themselves, or I should still consider paying for the addults as well? I just want to do the right thing so if paying for an adult should be considered, then I will just have to let my son know we can not afford this kind of party this year, and may need to wait next year. What's the right thing to do?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm so glad I asked because I wouldn't want to spend that much money on it. The website can be deceiving. I may go check it out first, and then talk to my son to let him know. Hopefully we can find something else. Many thanks !

Amazing Jakes is a Brand New Place at Collin Creek Mall.

We looked at it and it seemed pretty nice compared with main Event, etc.

As for the $$, what does that include? I have not personally been a paying member of Amazing Jakes but I think $10 per kid is not bad IF they are involved with "hosting" the party.

It has been a while since we have done something like that so Go visit, check it out and see what the $10/kid includes. I don't get the $8/parent...what is that for??

My experience....I prefer to pay for the party and if it comes down to me having to charge others or cut back on quality....I will change venues. If I throw a party, I do not expect anyone who attends to spend a $ unless they choose to do so.

Hi L.,
I would highly suggest that you go out and check the place out for yourself before making plans. My husband took our son and some friends out there about a month ago and was not that impressed. Their website was a little miss leading. He said that the place is kind of rundown.
As for paying for the adults,If a parent presence is required at the party then it would be appropriate to pay for them as well.

We went there a couple of months ago and were not impressed at all...the food wasn't good and the games were kind of rediculous....it is VERY expensive and not really worth it....I would suggest trying something else or at least visiting for your self first.....Have fun!!

The place is terrible. The food is disgusting. The lines for the rides were so long. It is not worth the money. You're right - the website does look great.
