Ok this time I have a very specific question...any great solutions for a collection of large trucks? Right now I have an overflowing plastic bin at the bottom of one of the closets in the playroom that the trucks are thrown into in a haphazard manner. In addition to the fact that no one can find the exact truck that is needed for the current activity in progress, I am wanting to install shelving in the closet so I need to find another home for these trucks. they're just so awkwardly sized and shaped. I do plan to get rid of some, but I have two boys who are obsessed with vehicles. I need a good home for them and I'm stumped!

Park them along the wall under a shelving unit or park them in the garage where they can go outside to play.They don't have to stay in the bedroom.
Our preschool stores toy trucks (or any big toy) this way: on a wide book shelf. Several layers and the trucks neatly parked. It's WAY easier for the kids to find what they want and easy for clean up.
So I would focus on getting shelving. IKEA is a great place for shelving. Or check Craigslist.
Go to Pinterest and look up "Organizing Kids toys" or something similar to get ideas. See how nice the trucks can look here?

It wasn't till I visited my son's Kindergarten class where I learned how to organize toys correctly. Now I feel like an expert.
I wouldn't get rid of toys they are obsessed with. They are playing! That's great. Better than being on video games.
A friend of mine put floating shelves on the wall at various heights and now the trucks all have a place to be.
Another friend got a small bookcase and put the trucks in it.
Well we put our odd shaped cars/trucks in a basket as well. A larger basket like a laundry basket. Can the boys pick a few of their least favorites to donate - reducing the pile? That's all I got and the best I could come up with for my own home.
We too park them along the wall.
Maybe a shoe cubby? With lots of "parking spaces". (In context, call it their "garage".)
when you put in your shelves in the closet make the bottom one far enough up from ground level that these trucks can be "parked" under the bottom one. My son loved those little tykes semi's and garbage trucks. to big for the toybox to big to just leave out in the room. we parked them in the bottom of the closet under the bottom shelf or for a while under the crib when he was still small enough to sleep there
and I second the ikea thing we have bought loads of shelving units there and they are great.
I bought a cubby storage system and we parked the cars in the cubbies as if it was a garage. We could fit about 2-3 trucks per cubby, depending on the size of the truck (none of ours were huge). Maybe limit the number of trucks that can be out at a time - get a "garage" big enough for eight trucks and put the rest in the bin in the closet. They can rotate them weekly.
A cubby-hole type of bookshelf that has about 9 hugs cubby's.
(Ikea has them.) Just "park" in each cubby so they can be seen and
easily obtained.
