Hi everyone, I moved here a few months ago from Boston and was wondering if there are other moms on this board from up north? This weather has been depressing, I am pregnant again and am having a hard time getting used to things here. Would welcome the opportunity to chat about back home with someone in a similar situation.

What can I do next?

Hi M.!
I am from Rhode Island. Went to High School in Weston Mass and College in Cambridge (Lesley College!) I lived in NY for 7 years before moving to Grapevine. I miss the Northeast but making it here. We plan to get back within the next 5 or 6 years.
Just wanted you to know that someone else is from New England. Today has been hard. I am used to watching the Fireworks with the POPS in the background..eating Lobster and such! I miss the old 4th with the New England touch!
Happy 4th!

Hi M.:

I am originally from Connecticut but Texas is home. I could go on and on about the benefits of living here but I won't. New England has its pluses but I really feel that my kids will have a better life here.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The weather will change...hopefully this weekend! I can't wait to see the sun again.

My oldest will be starting Kindergarten in August as well....they grow up so fast.

If you ever want to chat..... ____@____.com

Welcome!

Hi M.,
I grew up in a town called North Attleboro, which is about 45 min. from Boston. We have been living here for almost seven years now. At first I did not like it here but just like the other posters said it gets much better! I still miss so many things about MA, like the beach, hills, dunkin donuts iced coffee and bagels and going to NH on the weekends. My husband misses the food the most...and I swear I have not had a decent slice of pizza since we've been back to MA. Hang in there. If you want to chat you can email me at ____@____.com

HI M.,

Welcome to Texas! I'm originally from the New England area and are blessed with the opportunity to go back for frequent visits. I have been here 8 years and I'm very happy. It's a great place to raise kids and keep them busy. We have not found good New England seafood here yet but if we do I will let you know.

I just want to encourage you to find support group of other mom's with kids the same age. Many churches offer different programs like MOPS (mothers of preschoolers). You will find that there are many women from the New Englad area, Go Patriots!!!

If you would llke to know where my family attends just let me know.

Hang in there!

Hello there! Not from Boston but was wondering if we have other things in common. My husband's work has LOTS of "transplants" from Boston coming in, and I was wondering if you or your husband work for Fidelity. If so, you're certainly not alone!

I'm not from Boston, I'm a native to the area & I am 43 y.o. I have never seen weather like we've been having lately, particularly in the summer. It's usually hot and dry, so please keep your chin up--one thing we always know about Texas weather...if you don't like it, just wait a minute. It'll change. I think you'll be glad you're here come January! LOL
There's lots to do, even indoors, all over the Metroplex (Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington & every city & town in between)I'll bet your little one would LOVE Pump it Up--great for a rainy day. BTW--I've been to Boston a couple of times for short business trips & I wish I could have stayed longer. I stayed in Franklin and we made the drive everyday to Hopkinton to our facility there...it was beautiful in October. We're glad you're here, and anytime you need recommendations on anything, just post it and you'll get tons of great advice.

Hi M., I moved here from eastern CT 4 years ago. I do have family all over New England and outside NYC. It DOES get better and you will get used to the weather down here. Summer is still my least favorite season here where it used to be my favorite in New England. Major paradigm shift.

This takes time but I started to not compare TX to New England and learned to like what is unique about this place and find places I like. I like living here now and I love going "home" to visit.

I am not sure what church you go to..but there are A LOT of transplants from the northeast at our UU church in Dallas. We drive from west Plano to go it. It is First Unitarian Church of Dallas. It saved me my first year here...I felt like I found people I could relate to at a time I was ready to repack my bags and move back.

Anytime you have a question..just send an email and hang in there!
Boston is a GREAT city and I know why you miss it.

Hi M.
I'm not from Boston, but my nanny is. She's great! We love to death. She's not married & doesn't have any children, but loves ours like her own. I know the situations aren't similar but i thought I'd pass it on anyway because meeting new people here is sometimes very challenging. Let me know if you'd like me to pass on your info to her.

Hey M.,
I'm from Connecticuit. I know how you feel. It took me a LONG time to get used to it here, but now I don't ever think I would leave! I live in Coppell, so if you ever want to vent, I can be your shoulder to cry on. I have a 3 (4 in august) little girl and who loves playing with other kiddos.
