Hi Mommas!
I just found out I'm pregnant with my second child!! I'm very excited, but haven't told anyone yet...including my husband!! We had a bit of trouble conceiving our first child (who is only 13 months) & this one sort of happened quickly!! I was so happy to be pregnant the last time around, I didn't wait to tell my husband. This time around, I'd really like to tell him in a neat way. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can to this creatively?!?! I'd also love any ideas on how I can tell my family we're pregnant!!! I can't wait to share the good news, I just want to make it really special!! Thanks for your help!!!

My cousin decided to tell her family by having a dinner and inviting everyone over and for desert she had a cookie cake with we're expecting or something to that effect on it. A friend told her husband by buying a pair of baby booties and wrapping them up. He was really suprised to find out what his "gift was".

When we became pregnant, we bought some baby socks and put them in a little box and wrapped it and said to the grandparents, We have a little gift for you!

Here is a creative way to tell your husband that you are pregnant. Make a nice dinner to announce it. The menu should consist:
Baby back ribs
Baby carrots
Baby asparagus

And if he has not caught on yet top it off with dessert.
Ice cream served with a baby silver spoon.

Congratulations T.!
Why not buy/make your son a t-shirt that states "I'm the Big Brother!"?

It's a little bit away, but we told my parents about our first with a bouquet on Grandparent's Day, which is usually in early September. Since it was their first grandchild, they figured it out pretty quick.

For the second, I surprised my husband by having it appear on the screen at Pizza Hut Park during halftime for FC Dallas. It was great, but two of his coworkers were there, so it leaked out to his office a little quicker than we thought.

We did the t-shirt idea, as I just found out that I am pregnant with our 2nd. Babies R Us has several Big Brother t-shirts to choose from (though they are big sizes, but at least your son would be able to wear it for a while!). My husband was pretty shocked when he read the shirt, and it was fun to have our son 'tell' him.

Congratulations to you! I also have a 13-month-old son, so I am right there with you! Let us know how you end up telling your hubby.

Hi T.! Congratulations! I too, just found out that I am expecting our second!! What a joy! We told our family by dressing up our almost year old son in a suit and tie and giving him the pregnancy test to give to them! (of course, we washed it thoroughly before!) At first, his mom didn't know what it was, but when she figured it out, it was priceless!
We also wanted to do the whole shirt thing that says I am a big brother on it, but couldn't find one of those shirts!
Good luck to you and have fun telling everyone!

My friend who is expecting her 4th in January had a really cute idea. She got birthday party invitations and filled them out with the new baby's due date, for name she put "To be announced", for: "Baby's Birth Day" and location: the hospital where she will deliver. She handed them out to the grandparents and mailed them to other family members.

T.,
I have a similar idea as the birthday party invitations. For my first child, I waited to tell my husband, because I wanted a creative moment for him as well. I designed a little "invitation" for him that read: You are cordially invited to the birth of your first child. Expected due date, registries available soon, please reply. I put it in an envelope and when I went out to get the mail that day, I gave it to him and said, "This came for you today". He opened it up and although it took him a couple of moments to catch on, it is a really nice keepsake to remember the moment we had together.
I have also read that idea about doing a full meal of baby carrots, baby back ribs, baby corn, etc. I think that is also very clever. Best wishes to you on baby #2!

Send an email to the family with just a boring sentence or two about the day or week. Then finish it, "Well, as you can see from the picture, I have not been feeling too well." And then attach a picture of your son either wearing a shirt or holding something that says WE ARE HAVING A BABY! or BIG BROTHER TO BE or something.

Have fun and congratulations!

Congratulations on #2! A friend of mine had a fun idea. When her husband came home from work, she told him that dinner was in the oven. When he took the casserole dish out of the oven and took the lid off, there was a pair of baby booties in there. Very cute!

My husband and I wanted to do something fun for his parents when we found out I was pregnant. We had gone on vacation so when we went over to his parents we gave them their "vacation" gifts. We had wrapped up baby bibs for them. One said "I love Grandpa", the other said "I love Grandma". They loved it!

Oh, congratulations! How exciting!! Okay, so this is what I did for our 1st . . . I put a hamburger bun in the oven (my husband was coming home for lunch), and when he arrived, I asked him to check what was in the oven for me. It took him a minute, but I just couldn't resist the whole "bun in the oven" idea. It was so fun (and it's made a great story to share!!)

Also, if you'd like one of those "I'm gonna be a Big Brother/Sister" shirts, google it and go to CafePress (I think that's the company's name). They have all sorts of designs like that.

Have fun with it and ENJOY your pregnancy! What a blessing . . . :)

I think there was another post like this last week or so. My suggestion was to do a meal with items starting with baby...such as baby carrots, baby back ribs, etc. When typing out the menu emphasize the BABY in the menu items.

Of course, there is always those gifts like you see on America's Funniest Videoes.

OH, someone on the last post suggested having the first child wear a shirt around stating "I'm going to be a Big Brother/Sister" and see how long it took for people to notice. That sounded like fun to me :0) Of course, I am done having children..2 was enough for me and my body just did not do well with pregnancies. Long story.

Congratulations and may God bless you with a healthy, happy pregnancy/baby!!

first of all Congratz!! My friend just did this and I thought it was cute, she gave each of her family members something they liked only in baby form like her dad she gave him a little baby football being as how he loves the sport and her brother a little motorcycle and on down the line she went. After everyone opened their presents and were confused she told them that was stuff they could give the newest family member in some months. She didnt do that for her husband they took the test together. good luck my son was 12 months when I got pregnant with my 2nd son and its kinda tough sometimes SSSOOOO worth it but it brings on a whole new meaning "just going to wal-mart". or just going anywhere period but you will get the hang of it and will become 2 nd nature to you.

Hey T.!

Congratulations on your new baby! That's so exciting!

When we finally get pregnant with our second, I want to put our little girl, Emma, in a shirt that says "Big Sister" and have her casually wear it around family, friends, whoever I'm telling, and see how long it takes them to figure it out! :-)

Another fun idea is, if your family lives out of town, send something like a cookie bouquet (or flowers or something) decorated to tell them the news.

Or, I used to work in a stationary & invitations boutique in Plano, and we did TONS of Christmas Cards... in one of my favorites, the couple already had 3 kids and was having another. So their Christmas Card picture was of their 3 kids each holding a sign (one said "It's" one said "A" and one said "Girl!"), which together, spelled out "It's A Girl!" I thought that was so fun. Obviously you don't want to wait until Christmas, but you could do something like that, sent in a frame to your family or sitting out for your husband.

Have fun and blessings in your pregnancy!

Is your oldest child a boy or girl? It would be cute to put the 1st child in a t shirt that says "I'm the Big Brother" of "I'm the Big Sister". Just a thought. Congrats, my husband and I are trying for our second child as well.

Congratulations! We were in a similar situation when I got pregnant the second time. I used a plain t-shirt for my son and painted "Big Brother-March 2007!" When his dad got home from work, I said, look at the shirt I made for BEn today! It took DH a minute (because it was such a surprise that I had actually gotten pg without fertility treatments) to get it. I also took a picture of ds in the shirt and emailed to friends and family to spread the word. It was a fun way to share the news.

OK well i think there are several options....you could take some onesies and a bottle...maybe a pacifier and place them in an area he has to pass by when he gets home from work..have it all laying out with maybe a pregnancy test..OOOOOORRRR you could teach your 13 month old to say baby....and have your little boy tell your hubby...you could have a surprise party and tell all your family and friends at the same time....hmmm trying to think of more creative things....you could buy a baby doll and when he asks you why you are carrying it around all the time you could tell him that you are just trying to get ready for the one on the way OK that might be stupid and cheesy..ummm what about baking a cake and putting on it Happy Fathers Day and when he looks at you funny tell him....take him to dinner and tell him in a creative way....i don't know....maybe none of these you like but maybe it has your creative juices flowing. Good Luck, God Bless and Congrats.

I have heard of people making a baby meal, having baby corn and baby carrots, and asking him if he notices anything. Also, I had a friend that put a little baby figure inside of a piece of cake and giving it to her husband.
As far as telling others, you can get a group together and give them each a gift bag with baby items in them and let them open all at the same time. I also heard of a couple that used the Mastercard commercial to make a card. On the outside, there is a pic of the couple and a list of things from the picture with price listed. Then they opened the card and it said,"Finding out there are 3 people in the picture: priceless." Hope this helps you. Good luck and congratulations.
