Hi everyone!

I'm hoping some of you can possibly send me some input on local dentists.
My 13 y/o son has Aspergers and asthma, and most dentist shy away when this is mentioned.
The one I did find informed me that I would have to wait in the lobby...no parents are allowed to go in with their children. Needless to say the search continues.

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I am not sure if you spoke w/ Dr. Goldstein's office or not. They usually have parents wait in the waiting room, but they do have a room just for smaller children and kids with special needs. I would try calling and explain the situation and see if they will let you go back with him. They are located in the Metro West area. Hope this helps.

K.,

I love my dentist! The office staff is extremely nice. I'm not sure if he'd "Shy away" from your son's condition, but you can always call and ask.

Here is his info:

Dr. Troy King is excellent with ALL kids. He is located in Oviedo near the intersection of Mitchell Hammock Rd. and Alafaya. I know of many families with children with special needs who have had great experiences there. Parents are ALWAYS welcome in the treatment rooms. I have heard good things about his partner Dr. Donald, but have not met him. The staff is great and they have handled my daughter's anxiety as if it is routine. She had a tooth extracted and didn't even realize she had received a shot of novacaine because they gave her laughing gas and a local anesthetic so she didn't even feel the prick. She looks forward to going there. Their number is ###-###-####

If you're in Orlando area, Dr. David Goldstein is a good dentist who is very understanding and sympathetic of such problems. My autistic daughter goes there and they have no problem giving her a special room and letting me go with her. That "no parents" rule is so stupid!
