Hi S.,
My child had 2-3 sets of tubes between ages 1 and 5. Whenever she had a fever, she almost always had an ear infection. I believe she was 3 when the pediatric ENT (Ear Nose Throat doc) finally removed her tonsils and adenoids. I don't believe she had any more ear infections after that.
How is her throat? Strep should always be ruled out, since a strep infection can go to the heart, cause rheumatic fever, and permanent damage to the heart.
BTW, I had my daughter in the pool a lot, and the doc didn't want her to get any water in her ears with the tubes in--so the ENT doc referred us to an audiologist who took imprints of her ears and made custom, molded ear plugs. They worked GREAT for the pool and bathing.
If you don't feel your pediatrician is on top of your daughter's health, or is too lackadaisical, then check around for a good one and change! If I were you, I would get her to an ENT doc quickly. Fever is a sign that the body is fighting an infection, and it should be addressed. Sometimes the tubes fall out, and need to be replaced.
If she does have sinus and congestion problems, I would consider taking her off WHEAT and DAIRY, as these cause more mucus production--hence, sinus and ear issues.
Best of luck! jenifer
