V.W.
I don't get giddy about it. But hubby and I used to 'fight' (it was all friendly and in fun) over who was going to get it. It was like a contest... we'd both rush to pick it up. LOL
I mean I get almost giddy walking to the mailbox. I LOVE checking the mail, it makes me feel like a four year old. I honesly don't understand why, because mostly it's bills (and we are having a bit of trouble with those these days!) BUT I still just love walking to the mailbox with keys in hand.
We got back into town late last night and I had to restrain myself from running to the mailbox, I waited until this morning. And it was a mostly fun mailbox trip. We had one bill, two junk mails, an advertisment for the company I just started working from home for, my two year olds "Wild Animal Baby" magazine, a Publix Preschool Pals magazine, a survey from the hospital I just had my second daughter at, marketing materials for my work at home business (so exciting!!), and the parts for our dryer that my husband ordered.
I have also been following a lot of money saving blogs and signing up for free samples of things like tampons, shampoo, and lotion so I can't wait for all those to start arriving. Any little ways to save money are awesome!
I can't wait for the mail man to get here today!! Anyone else?
I'm sooo glad that I'm not the only one!!! I wasn't even thinking about catalogs! I love catalogs! One Step Ahead is probably the best one that I get, I never order anything because it's expensive, but I probably look at it 100 times before it goes into the bin. Also I still LOVE looking at the American Girl catalog. I've never owned anything other than the books, but I still love looking through it.
I'm the same way with paying bills. It makes me feel great to sign that check and put it in the mail box, or more likely these days click "submit payment" and be done with it. Money might be tight, but it makes me feel so good that all bills are paid!
@Nicole - thanks for the tips I will be checking into that!
@Caresse T. - if you are going to be snarky and rude, you should probably proofread before hitting reply. But I'm guessing you are probably too busy for that, too.

You are so funny! I get really excited when I order something and am waiting for it to come, and then when I realize its all my husbands junk mail, I get sad and leave it in there!!! Im such a jerk!
hahaha, so funny.
I do remember liking to check the mail when I had magazine subscriptions or if I was waiting for something specific that I had ordered. When you are a sahm the mailperson becomes your bartender, ahaha.
Hahahahahahahahaha this is awesome!
Yes, I love checking the mail. Love, love, LOVE it! I don't really ever get anything exciting but I still love to do it. My husband, on the other hand, could let the mail sit there for days if I never got it. I simply cannot fathom that!
I get annoyed because my mailman doesn't deliver during the week until after 5:00, sometimes 6:00! Of course, on Friday the mail is never later than 4:00...
yes!...i get letters from family, better homes and gardens, fitness and cooking light magazine, netflix, my daughter has a pen pal, i order packages all the time (right now im waiting on the number one belly fat blaster workout video in the country , jeannette jenkins, "blast the belly fat) I cant wait to get the mail.!
I also like getting bills. it used to be that i hated that, but now that we can pay them and release ourselves from that looming stress, paying bills is like yoga for me.
**** caresse t your comment stunk of sarcasm and snarky cattiness. We are so glad "you" have better things to do, say hello to the president for me.
I do this too. That's funny. I thought it was just me. I also LOVE paying bills. I love filling out the checks and tracking it. Stuffing the envelopes. Even when money was tight I liked doing it. Strange. :)
Check out coliryan.com for great cash back deals. A couple of pointers......
Check out the hot deals tab. I bought contact lenses and got 37% off and 4% cash back. I saved over $50.
Also, go to partner stores and click on g. Go to giftcards.com. You will find used giftcards for under face value plus earn 3% cash back. I bought one to Dick's sporting goods and saved $16.89 got $3.71 in cash back. Then I went on Dick's site through coliryan.com and earned another $2.00 in cash back. It doesn't sound like a lot but every little bit helps. Make sure you register as a preferred customer so you can get the cash back. Once it gets to $10 you can request a check.

Me too!! I order lots of magazines when they are cheap and I love all the free samples!!!!!!!
Yeah, specially when I am watting for something, but I would get exited for catalogs too.
Just last Friday when we come back home I had to go to the bathroom but first I HAD to go check the mail first just in case I got any catalog or any reading material, sorry if TMI, lol.
ME TOO!! I hand write letters to out of state family pretty regularly, so I love getting their updates in return. I even love getting 'junk' mail... I meet my elderly widowed neighbor Miss B at the mailbox as often as possible... this is my 'adult communication' in a day filled with work emails and the baby. I can hear the mail truck coming around the corner. My 15 month old son knows the sound now, and goes to the door when he hears the truck because he knows we're walking out there, LOL!! It's the simple things :)
I love getting the mail! I always have. I don't know why. All our bills are paperless. I get one magazine and my husband gets one. So it is usually just junk mail that heads straight to the recycling bin but I still love making that small trek to the mailbox.
I USE TO get excited but my "letter carriers" have sticky fingers. I LOVE signing up for samples but they never show up UNLESS they are feminine products. Makes me so mad that I can't prove it.
I actually have the opposite problem, LOL. I only check it once a week or once every 2 weeks, it's not that I am avoiding anything (okay, maybe I am trying to avoid the concierge guy who won't stop talking to me), but I am just too busy to find time to go down to get it since I get home around 10 p.m. I am not sure what the mailman thinks of me as I live in a condo, but I bet it drives him crazy having to find ways of stuffing all my mail in a way that everything can fit in those tiny metallic mailboxes in the lobby.
You all crack me up! I forget my mail for days. Maybe that's on purpose because there are always so many bills in there. Today is my birthday and I've had a couple of calls telling me to GO CHECK MY MAIL because there is something in there for me. Maybe I don't want to remember my birthday either?! I think I'll subscribe to some fun magazines and order free samples so I'll have a reason to check my mail more often!
Yessssss Im not alone in my weirdness. I think its the whole surprise factor like Christmas. Cant wait to see whats in the box today lol
I don't feel giddy but I definitely feel compelled to check the mail every day. I don't feel right if I know there is mail in there that I have not retrieved yet :) My sister is the same way because when she stays with me, it's like a race as to who gets the mail first.
You are not alone :)
Oh I love checking the mail! Yay there is someone like me!!
I'm with you, I LOVE checking the mail! And yes, I feel like a giddy school girl! It is the little things in life that bring joy, so I enjoy it!
It's the little things that make a person happy! My daughter (5 yrs) loves to get the mail and if it's addressed to her, I'm sure the neighbors know she has mail! ....she has never known direct mail before (we've lived in a foreign country for the majority of her life so far) so it's been a bit of a novelty (especially when she found out our mail lady would pick up out going mail if left in the box with the flag up!!!). I too always love to receive (bills, not so much!) stuff in the mail! I could be happy all day long with just the little things...they add up, really!
wow wish had nothing better to do then get excited out going to the mailbox. i to many other important things to do.
