Ever since I had my first child 2 yrs ago, Ive been getting bad menstrual like cramps for 1-2 days when Im ovulating. These cramps are bad and often require me to take advil and use my heating pad. I never got these ovulation pains prior to having my son. Any thoughts on why this happening?

What can I do next?

I think things just shift down there after kids. I did. I know when I ovulate now, and it's actually a great thing! Now, there are 1-2 more days a month hubby gets to go without because there will be NO MORE SUPRISES FOR ME! Three BCP suprises are enough. LOL!

Totally normal. It's called middleschmertz (it's the German name for it, just means "middle pain"). When you release an egg a little cyst sometimes forms on your ovary. When the get goes through it bursts or tears a little, which can be painful. But it's nothing to be concerned about. Stick with the advil and heating pad. I've had this off and on since I got my period at age 11. Sometimes it's really painful, but then it goes away.

I hear you sister. I get sharp pains during ovulation and also get really crabby. (okay, another excuse to blame my crabbiness on, but it's true!) A friend of mine was visiting once and she also complained of major pain during ovulation. I just made a gynecologist appt for this week to discuss ways to get rid of the pain, if there is any!
Good luck!

I can always feel when I ovulate. I get a pain in one side or the other that just stays until I'm done. It usually lasts about a half a day then subsides. Some months are worse than others. Sometimes I swear I must have gigantic eggs because it can really hurt and stop my daily life.

I get cramps, a little grumpy and even bleed a tiny bit when I ovulate. You are not alone!

ME! ME! ME! I've noticed it a couple months ago when I was wondering why I was in so much pain when it wasn't my period. Then I realized it hurt about the same time last month, AND I get super gassy. I have noooo idea why, but the gas comes. It's awful! Glad to know I'm not the only one! All the other girls at my work thought I was crazy when I told them I knew when I was ovulating because of the pain. But they also don't have kids.

Totally normal! I always had these cramps, but they have gotten more noticeable since I had my kids. No worries..your body is changing and your hormones are different. Just take Advil and if they get too bad, call your gynocologist

I don't know why it happens but I get them too! Mine have been a little worse since I had my tubes tied when i had my daughter 18 months ago. I don't know if it's just being more aware or what! I do the advil and heating pad too
