Anyone Have a Ford Expedition?

Well we finally bit the bullet so to speak this past Saturday and traded my truck in for another vehicle. I had a Chevy Silverado that was a really good vehicle to us. Didn't have any major issues with it however it was over 8 years old and had over 201,000 miles on it. The past year or so, we did start experiencing some issues with it on a more frequent basis so we knew because of that and for the fact that we needed more space it was time to get something different. We found a 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Baur edition and traded our truck in for that. I love it so far. Haven't really driven it too much yet (I work from home so don't travel much). My husband wanted a big enough vehicle to be able to pull trailers and we needed the room. I was actually going for a Chevy Traverse but he was concerned about the engine size. We got a pretty decent deal on the expedition and I think it will last a long time for us so I think it was a wise investment. Gas is a concern of course but like I said, we don't travel all that much. If I had to drive to an office every day this would not be the vehicle of choice. So for those of you who have an expedition, how do you like them? Have you had any bad experiences with them? Would you get another one? TIA.....

We have an EB Expedition and LOVE it. I wanted something large enough to take a bunch of kids and equipment anywhere and still be comfortable. Mission Accomplished. :) We call mine the beast. The beast has over 100000 miles on it and we have had no problems. We just replaced the original batery after over 100,000 miles. I'm not ready for a new truck, but when it's time the Expedition will be at the top of the list.

We bought a 2000 Eddie Bauer Expedition in 03. LOVED it!! We just got rid of it last year. Well I guess 2 years ago. It got to the point that we were putting more money in to it to keep it on the road. The gas was the same as all other large SUV's, and it stinks, but we loved it still. Great vehicle, Great ride, Great everything, as long as you take care of it like any car :).

I don't have an expedition, but I have an excursion (the bigger model) I Love it! They don't make them anymore so when it is time for a new car, I am not sure what I am going to do :-( I will probably just fix this one for as long as I can! LOL

Don't have one, but worked on plenty of them in 'prototype land'... They're a great vehicle as long as you take care of them. Stay up on the maintenance and you'll get a long life from it!

We have an Eddie Bauer expedition and really like it. I didnt want one when we bought it years ago but like it so much now that we will be upgrading to a newer one in a couple months. The gas mileage is NOT good obviously and it doesnt have a ton of cargo room, more without a 3rd row seat but still not alot.

My father has driven one since it came on the market and just bought a new one! He loves it and it fits all three full-sized carseats along with all of the junk they take with them when my parents have the grandkids.

We have an Eddie Bauer Expedition from 2003 and we love it! It has over 160K miles on it, and I am happy to report that we have never had a major issue with it. And actually, we have had only very minor wear-and-tear issues otherwise (we had to replace a fan motor for the air conditioning unit for the back half of the car, and we had to have the motor replaced for the driver's side mirror, that makes it tilt down when you're in reverse). But yeah, we will have owned the vehicle for 9 years in August, and we have never been happier with any other. We like it so much that when it was time for my husband to replace his truck, he bought a Ford F150 (and for a lifelong Chevy guy, that's saying something!).

ETA: Jenn's post made me laugh, because we call ours "The Beast" also! LOL

We have a 1997, the first year it came out! Love it...has almost 200K miles on it. We had suspension problems, fixed the air suspension once which cost around $1000, a few yrs. later we converted the suspension...for $200. Just recently we have started having issues with the front air conditioner switch....it will only operate on "full blast"...but here in TX, that is fine! It has been comfortable and dependable for our family travels...Texas to Virginia to Maine to the Florida Keys to Texas. Multiple trips to Florida. I will buy another one when this one gives out! LOVE it!

We have a '98 EB. It has hauled boys scouts and pulled our boat for many years. It still runs well as long as it stays tuned up and oil changed on time.
I had a front tire blow out going 70 mph once and it never even swerved and was nice enough to roll within a hundred yards of a Walmart in the middle of nowhere!
My husband loves it. I don't because my feet don't reach the floorboard and my legs ache on long trips.

Yes, we have one. Honestly, it's OK. The main issue we had was with the air suspension. We finally had to break down and have it converted. Best decision we could have made. If you have any issues with it, I would recommend just converting it and not mess with trying to fix the suspension. From what I have read and others I have seen on the road it seems to be a pretty common problem.

I do love how roomy it is. Everyone can fit with room to spare. The third row seat is easily removed which gives you even more room for storage. We keep ours out because otherwise you don't really have much room for groceries, sports equipment, etc.
