Anyone Have a Ford Freestyle?

We are considering new (used) vehicles and my husband just test drove a 2006 Ford Freestyle. He liked it overall and we will hopefully be able to make a decision in a few days (depending on payments/financing). We both drive Focuses and love them but we'll need a little more room when we add a third carseat in the spring and since we often travel with another adult.

If you have one, what do you like or dislike? What would you have considered instead?

Thanks!

I don't own one, but I used to sell Ford vehicles. The Freestyle has 11 different seating options, holds 7, rides like a car, yet has seating like a minivan. Also, it's the sister car to the Ford Five Hundred and has the CVT, so you don't feel it shift. I, too, had a Focus and then went to a Taurus. Had we not just purchased the Taurus just a few months before I got my job w/ the dealership, I would have gone w/ the Freestyle in a heartbeat. From my business dealings, it's also an insurance-friendly vehicle as well. I would honestly recommend it. GL

My hubby loved the Freestyle. We then test drove one. We HATED it. The third row is mostly worthless. If you don't really need the third row, then I'm sure it's fine. We just wanted the space for an extra adult, so I could take my p's and the kids to the Zoo, for instance.

We have a Freestyle from the last year they were making them (I guess they are the Taurus X now?). We like it. It's not fancy and you get a lot of "bang for the buck" so to speak. Ours has the CVT engine, so a bit wierd and a bit slow on the uptake, but overall fine! We recently got a GMC Acadia...I LOVE IT!!! Rides even better than than the Freestyle, more room, more options...but it was a lot more expensive.

I have a 2005 Freestyle. Being the first model year, I'm very impressed with it. I love the Volvo frame and the side airbag curtain - a very safe car. It had a great ride, though it was a little different ride with the CVT transmission.
I did wish I could have waited a year. My engine wasn't as strong enough, so it has a sluggish start. I can get 25 mpg on the highway, and usually 19 for local driving. I have 120K miles on it and am unhappy I'll need to find something else - thought the EDGE is a close runner. Didn't use the 3rd row much, but I could put 2 kids with car seats and 3 dogs no problem. When I purchased the car it had the storage of the Explorer with a 10K smaller price tag. Mine is also the top Limited model.

I have had the freestyle for about 5 years...we have 2 car seats in the middle row, and we can squeeze a third if need be. It works better with the booster seats that the full convertible seats. I very rarely have to use the third row, but it has come in handy. It is pretty good on gas considering the size. Not as well equipped at the new Traverse as far as seating arrangements, but we also paid half as much for our freestyle! Overall, we have been pretty happy with it.
